Reverend Simon Sideways Now On 3Speak

The 3Speak team is hard at work.

There was a post earlier today by Reverend Simon Sideways. He is a British content creator who recently fell in the net cast by YouTube. While it appears his channels are still up, the platform demonetized his videos.

According to the video he posted, they started targeting the right and now are moving towards the center. His view is YouTube is moderated by those on the extreme left.

Personally, I don't care what political perspective one comes from (probably because I realize they are both the same, just part of the theater to keep division), I do uphold that people have a right to express their views. What YouTube and other social media platforms are doing is atrocious.

Of course, this is an opportunity for the Steem ecosystem.

3Speak was designed with the idea of allowing video creators a place to post their content without fear of censorship. Their accounts cannot be closed down nor can their videos be removed.

This might seen surprising to people but that is my understanding of the platform. It starts with a Steem account which, we know, can access whatever application on the blockchain that is desired. There are many avenues which one can get an account, including through an anonymous channel. This will help to keep one's privacy.

Another aspect to this is the use of Sia. This is decentralized storage which allows for the videos to be stored all over the world. This removes the ability to shut the content down. As long as there is a front end to access that blockchain, the videos are still there.

Obviously the Reverend is one who fits the target market for 3Speak. Those who are being silenced by the mainstream social media networks are the reason why this platform was developed. It is good to see some of those pushed aside by YouTube starting to find a home on here.

It is good to see different applications finding their niches. This one, with the spree that YouTube and Facebook are on, is rather large. The displaced and censored content creators are growing by the day.

This particular individual has 47K followers on YouTube. That is a fair number of people for his work (and Steem-based platforms) to be exposed to.

Over time, we are going to see moves like this attract more people to this ecosystem. The growth rate might be slow at first but it will pick up steam.

This is how things proceed when following an exponential path.
