B+: Day 2: Foul Weather Friends!

In continuation of the extreme challenge which would leave even Red Bull athletes gasping for breath, here's the second iteration of the #7daypositivitychallenge

Friends with Benefits

Nope. Not those kind of benefits. The real benefits of having friends. Other than family, it is friends who keep me going. And in this regard I have been extremely lucky with friends. No, not that kind of lucky!

From kindergarten till date, I have never befriended anyone who I had to later regret. There isn't a single person in my real life friend list, who turned out to be a rotten apple. l have the best of friends that one can wish in life.

Yet, they are all a bunch of foul weather friends. The fairest of weather, literally or figuratively, and no one will remember me. A single problem creeps up in their life or mine and we are immediately there for each other. Having such friends gives you the confidence of doing more, because you know they have your back.

At times my friends act like fiends and those times are when you are sure that they are the best. Playing practical jokes on each other keeps us busy. Even when years have passed without staying in touch, a phone call is all it takes to bring us back to the place where we all started.

My friends come from such diverse ethnic, financial and cultural backgrounds, that living with them has been an eye opener and a learning experience throughout. Most of my education has come from my friends rather than from some boring classroom.

So how did I get so lucky with my friend circle

I have a simple method of befriending people. Find some half-decent guy/girl, piss them off beyond belief. If they still tolerate me after I have spent hours tripping on them, then love them for life. Because they are awesome people and worth dying for!

Here's my first day's post on being thankful for family

I was tagged by @mrprofessor to:

Write a post about something you have to be positive about today - this could be anything from being thankful for your current situation, someone being nice to you, being thankful for your friends and family, or even being thankful for the opportunity you have been given here on Steemit - just keep it positive :)

  • Do this for 7 days in a row if you get nominated.
  • Mention three people who should do this on each day.
  • Tag it with #7daypositivitychallenge and include these rules at the bottom of your post Include a picture of something positive (related to your story if possible.)

Tip: You need to put the # in front of 7daypositivitychallenge or it will not let you use the tag.

On this occasion I will go ahead and tag another cool Indian cat on Steemit, @manouche, she brought this torture upon herself by commenting on my previous post! I am sure she is super positive, as she is visiting home in Bangalore/ Chennai currently (AFAIK). There is nothing like home food after a long time to be happy. So Go Girl...Or go B+ girl!

You make me laugh... I'd love to be a foul weather friend of yours.... xx

That is the sweetest thing I have read on the internet today :)

But this brings up a question which has been in my mind for a long time now. Are internet friends, friends?

I have been active on various motorcycling/ cycling forums (besides regular Social Media) for some time now. In the process i have interacted with countless people, some of whom became good friends. But are such people really friends?

You cannot go out to eat with them, catch a movie etc. The kind of bonding you normally have in real life. Yet thanks to improved communication tech, i keep in touch with my real world friends through the same medium as with my virtual friends.

So I am still stuck on the same question for a few years now. Yes years! Would love to read your thoughts on this, since i remember reading that you like to socialise in the virtual world quite a bit

Yeaahhh, piss me off and I'll punch you hard. But then we can go drink something, which is nice. I don't know you in person, but I see you as a friend, hah.

Thank you for another awesome post, I bet the Red Bull team will be reading this.

Hahaha. That is the idea, piss someone off to a point where their adult facade gets torn off, then you get to see the real person. Rum punch and all!

Good gosh, this is what I get for being supportive. I'm slightly annoyed at having to be positive for an entire week. But just for ALL THE LOLS you give me, I will do this. Plus B+ is (supposed to be) my blood.

And haha, about your friend making method? How many of these half decent guys and girls stand the tripping but also give it back to you? Those are the golden ones.

Slightly annoyed.

I have tears of joy in my eyes reading those words :D

Supposed to be? You don't know your blood group. (Insert terribly shocked emoticon)!

Like I said, they are half decent. I am a junglee, so unfortunately for them, they are at the receiving end. At least that is what I like to believe!

Haha, we should meet. Make those tears of joy into tears of regret. It'll be nice to see how much of a terror you actually are.

Nono, B+ IS my blood group. Ironic coz I'm so annoyed at your pun.

Ah. Yes. Korea is a bit far to come a riding. But coming to think of it, it would be awesome to cycle in Korea
