Tucson is known for its fantastic nature, animals, unique views and talking about all these things, interesting things about Tucson is that in 2013, a new species of scorpion was discovered in the Santa Catalina Mountains and they are visible from downtown Tucson.
How divine and amazing? There is a beautiful place that you can go at night with a black light flashlight and see the scorpion viewing, and you can see them glow under a black light…
If you are coming to Tucson, you can see this amazing and unique thing in the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. Believe me, it is more than a museum. You will be mind blown!

Take some time so you can explore the beautiful museum that is 98 acre/40ha, but it is more than that, it is a zoo, aquarium, botanical garden, natural history museum, publisher and an art gallery that was founded in 1952.
There is a walking path around 3.2km/2miles which passes 8.5h/21acres of a desert landscape. You can see 230 animal species, 1200 types of plants and so many more amazing things.

The museum is located west of Tucson, the correct address is 2021 N. Kinney Road.
They are open every day throughout the year. From October to February - 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, from March to September - 07:00 am to 05:00pm, and from June to August they are open from Sunday to Friday 07:30 am to 05:00 pm and Saturdays 07:30am to 10:00pm.

Tickets cost are:

  • 21.95$ for children and adults
  • 8.95$ for children (age 3-12)
  • Free entrance for children under the age of 2

It takes about 2 hours to see the museum because it is enormous and amazing! It is a walking experience, but wheelchairs and strollers are available. Also, they offer electric scooters.
You can see everything by wheelchair, and some of the paths are unpaved, and some are hilly areas. The rent cost for strollers is 6$, for wheelchairs 8$ and electric scooters 25$.
But you are a member than the prices are 5$ for strollers, 7$ for wheelchairs and 20$ for electric scooters.

If you get hungry, there are two restaurants, a coffee bar, and ice cream shop and also there are special group menus which you can find in the following link ->https://www.desertmuseum.org/visit/food.php.

The following link will lead you to the map of the Museum -> http://www.desertmuseum.org/visit/exhibits.php.

The museum is not pet-friendly, only service animals are permitted. Smocking is prohibited outside of the designated smoking areas in the Museum.
There are water fountains where you can refill your empty water bottles, the Museum cares about the recycling, better to refill than to throw the bottle. Aren’t they amazing?

Also, if you know Spanish or you are from Spain, you can read all about the fantastic museum in Spanish in the following link -> http://www.desertmuseum.org/spanish/.

Have a nice time, enjoy and be amazed by the unique and exquisite place in Tucson!
