Hop - Húmulus - Хмель - #ccc
I want, friends, to introduce to you another plant that I found on the outskirts of the forest. I'm sure that you know it, but maybe some moments will be interesting to you. It is a tree of hops that winds through the trees. I very rarely meet this plant, which is strange.
The fact is that in Moldova a large number of beers are produced, for the production of which, in addition to malt, hops are used.
Tannins, which are contained in hops, do not allow to peroxide the beer and other products where it is used and it gives these products a special flavor and aroma.
The inflorescences of this plant are very beautiful. They are like Christmas toys that hang from a tree. The very delicate green color of this plant is pleasant to look at.
When I photographed this bush of hops, it became funny to me. Next to him, a few meters away, a tree of Staphýlea pinnáta grows, whose fruits are nuts.
Beer with nuts in one place, do not want a beer? I do not drink beer, then, perhaps, you want pastry from dough with nuts, where is hops used to enhance taste?
Here is such a small factory in the forest where all the necessary components are gathered in one place. You say that for baked pastry and without sweet stuffing? And this issue is settled here. Have you read my post about cornelian?
It grows in a dozen meters about these two plants. Here you hop, here are nuts for you and here is a sweet dogwood. Well, for the flour, you have to run to the store. Although, perhaps, somewhere nearby grows in abundance of wheat, but, I have not yet found it.
Oh yes! All this requires water! The water here is abundant, near the stream, near the source with spring water and in abundance of morning dew.
All the ingredients are collected in one place, it's fantastic!
Interestingly, scientists do not know which species the hops exactly belong to. Some scientists believe that this is a relative of hemp, others believe that it is a relative of mulberry plants. Caterpillars of the silkworm, without fail, add hops to the diet.
Hops are widely used in medicine and cosmetics.
Traditional medicine did not bypass it. Its useful properties have long been known. Usually it is used as a sedative. Strongly addicted to treatment can not, there may be side effects, which are similar symptoms with alcohol poisoning.
In general, the range of diseases for which hops are used is very wide. This includes tuberculosis and venereal diseases, skin diseases, eczema, gastrointestinal disorders, gout, rheumatism and many other diseases.
Acne on the face, or, as they are called ugly, say goodbye to you, after processing them with drugs based on hops. Decoctions of hops are used to strengthen hair. I saw shampoos based on hops.
It is difficult to imagine that this is a fragile plant, it is a source of raw materials for the production of paper and fiber, from which bags and ropes can be made.
I think this is not all the useful qualities of this plant.
If God allows me to finish building my house, which I have been building for two years, then along the fence I will definitely plant this plant.
Hops are an excellent, natural air filter. It has the property of absorbing heavy metals from the air, thereby purifying it.
As they say, knowledge is our strength, but, without God, who created this plant and provided all its qualities, we are weak, I am exactly weak.

Hops are such a wonderful plant. They like to grow up, so when you build your fence, build it high. Either that, or set up the hops to grown up the side of your house.
Be careful when harvesting however. I grew some for my home-brew beer many years ago. I passed out after picking them. I was also told that the workers at the hops farms of old used to sleep all the time - that's how powerful the resin on the flowers are!!

Thank you so much @metametheus ! It's strange, what you say. I think that there are different types of hops. And the kind that grows in you, it has such a side effect. The fact is that my mother-in-law is from western Ukraine. In Soviet times, when she was still in school, all the children from her school were sent to pick hops. They collected 20 kilos a day. This is very much in terms of volume, considering that hops are very light. She is visiting us now and I asked this question. She says she does not remember a single case that someone would get sick when collecting hops.
Not sick, would fall asleep.
Hops are a wonderful medicine for helping getting to sleep.
