On the edge - Cozy Christmas.steemCreated with Sketch.

in WORLD OF XPILARlast year (edited)

On the street, snow sweeps everything around, turning familiar landscapes into snow-white sculptures.

Snow sweeps up all the paths and covers the roof of your house.

From the window you see this sparkling beauty and even the fact that you understand that it is very cold outside, it is warm in your soul, because you are in your beloved house, in the circle of your beloved family, firewood is crackling in the stove, and your table is loaded with dishes, Because Christmas is coming!

Greetings, friends!

I wanted to draw the atmosphere of the approaching Christmas.

Yes, today, at midnight, we will say to each other: "Merry Christmas!"

But, you will not be mistaken if you say these words every day throughout the year.

In this picture, we will not see what is happening inside the house, but I think there will be an alternative to the frosty air and snowfall that play their game outside the walls of the house.

This is how I saw life on the edge, on Christmas Eve.

To work on the drawing, I sharpened graphite pencils and got to work.

I really needed a sharpener and an eraser.

This is my first attempt to depict Christmas trees that will look like live Christmas trees covered with a layer of snow.

And, also, I ventured to depict snowfall and snowdrifts around the house.

Another work from the series On the edge, after a while was in my hands.

I hope that I was able, at least somehow, to create a cozy Christmas atmosphere.

You are becoming more and more realistic. Everything you do is realistic, but now even more.
The texture is great!
I'd pay attention to values.
Now it looks like all is the same value.
For example, the bottom of the roof can be darker, compared to the wall of logs.
The tree in the background is amazing!
In addition, a bit more attention to foreshortening.
If you look at the column of logs that are bulging out, the two bottom ones look like they are looking at us, meaning not foreshortened enough.
If something is not foreshortened enough, it looks like it is looking at us. If it is too foreshortened, it looks like it is looking away.
Great job as usual.
LOVELY drawing!

:) Hi Ran. Merry Christmas to you! Thank you for this analysis of my work and for your kind words. Yes, I completely agree with you, I saw it, but I would not have had time to fix it before Christmas, but I wanted to do it.
I saw a mistake in the logs when I cut a window in a log house, I clearly saw it. I built the perspective freehand, not using a ruler. I want to train my eye, but, apparently, at some point I made a shift in one direction or another during hatching, or I drew a line from the wrong side of the rounded cone from which it was necessary to take the reference point.
There is another mistake, this is the positioning of the porch of the house, you need to pull it towards you a little, the right side. As for the shades of the roof, then, on non-sunny days, the gray edges are not as contrasting as on a sunny day, and in the picture I depicted snowfall, because I thought that this could be done. I'm glad you liked the overall concept! Have a great day!

Yes, there can be reflective light from the snow upward, toward the bottom of the roof.
But, this is a drawing, you are the artist, so you can decide on the lighting.
The key is to stop when you sketch and look at the sketch. Look at the big picture, before you start shading and adding textures.
Merry Christmas to you too! I hope things will get better for you, and that you will get electricity all day :o)

Yes, the electricity will not hurt :), today it was turned off twice, we have already begun to get used to it, we began to sleep more, feeling like a connecting rod :). I noticed behind me that if I'm fond of dimming, it's hard to stop in time, lol, yesterday I decided to finish the drawing, where a man rides a cart uphill and carries hay, it turned out nice, but it was too dark, I think it will be the evening after haymaking .
