#ulog 16 My daily dose of dumbass - Part 2

Working in tech may seem glamorous to many, Mr Hackerman doing cool stuff on the internet but honestly, it is anything but, most of the times we need to deal with questions from muggles and more often than not it is painful

I often cringe at the questions I get so I decided why not share them with you. I shared my first one with you in part one which you can find here

Don't try to change anything in the slightest

So today's tech lesson is never assume anything is simple enought that it is completly idiot proof

I will give you the case as an example.

Last time around the person was at least able to get into our ticketing system. This time around we had a humdinger of a road block. So we use Asana to manage our project work flow with various freelancers, staff, clients and stakeholders.

It really is a great tool if you're not willing to pay for a decent project management application. So I created a board for a new site about a month ago and invited all the memebers to the board. When you receive an invite you're asked to create your own profile with Asana using the email I sent the invite too.

So we've been working on the board for about 5 weeks now and today I get an email saying that one of the members cannot get into Asana and they need me to give them their password.

I died inside having to reply back that you created your own login and password and had to attach a screenshot of where to find the forgot password prompt can be found. I highlighted it in red with an arrow on the screen shot. Lol Granted the reset prompt is in grey text and isnt the best I still think the positioning is good enough. It sits right next to the login button, which is a standard login form UX best practice.

It really doesn't get much simplier than that. In fact sending me an email to ask me this was a more complex task. Internetting can be tough sometimes, sigh!

For this I award myself with the highest level of face palm
