My True Life Story

I never knew what pain a scorpion sting could cause until when I was about 9 years old. Mom had announced earlier that we were all going to work on a nearby farm we owned, and nobody can mess with mom's decisions. I prepared like my siblings did, and all farming tools were also ready. In less than 5 minutes or more, we were already standing on the farmland. Work began and everybody showed off their working skills. While the work was going on, poor me who has never seen a scorpion before (except on TV) moved a bit closer to a palm tree which was standing next to me. Looking closely at the tree, I saw a hole on it and decided to insert my finger into the hole in search of an edible insect. Just immediately after I inserted my finger into the hole, I brought it out starring at it with so much focus. Mom found out that something was wrong with me and then she asked me, "what is that?". Not knowing and to confirm the answer, I peeped into the hole then replied mom with a shaky voice "It is a scorpion!". At this point, every farming tool we took to the farm were lying down as their different owners heard me pronounce the "scorpion" word. Mom quickly rushed towards me and also looked into the hole to confirm what was happening. Just on the process, a scorpion which had lay its egg in the hole jumped out and was on it's flight mode. However, it was killed and I began wailing as I held my poor finger. Though no physical injury but the feeling I had was beyond what everyone thought. Mom sent for everything she knew that could help me (crude oil, coke drink, onions, etc) as she felt very sad and was almost crying to see her son in this situation. She looked into my eyes and saw the kind of pain I was going through (though she thought she saw and could feel all the pain, but there was actually more pain to it). Before a step was made, the poison had spread throughout my right hand and I continued screaming as I requested for water. "No, you're not drinking water!" mom insisted. In a few minutes or more, everything she sent for arrived, the same coke drink which we kids normally drink till it's absolutely finished was rejected by me as the pain could not let me make my own decision. Afterwards, I was forced to chew and drink everything because if I didn't, I wouldn't have lived to write this story you're reading. Sooner than I thought, I started feeling a bit relieved. Mom later gave me an explanation as to why she didn't let me drink the water I had requested for; "you didn't ask for water before going close to the tree, so why after the scorpion stung you?. However, if you drank the water, it'll circulate the poison across your body making you to die in just minutes". At this point, I came to realize that the poison was behind my longing for water and that the water could have taken my life if I drank it at that moment. However, it's been years since it all happened. This is just chapter 1/many of my story. I still thank God that I'm alive to tell this story today.
