Introduction

Hello there and welcome to another review of mine. in the last review, I talked about a note taking application called carnet. This time around I will be reviewing a reminder application.

I can still remember the experiences I've had, especially the last one that happened. I had made a plan to go to church in the evening but ended up not going because I forgot and only remembered it when I looked at my phone and discovered that I was already late and couldn't make it. It was absolutely disappointing as this was one program I don't like missing.

I do know that a lot of people have had such experience severally. As for me, there's no way I will ever miss out on anything again provided I have the Repeat Me application.

I got to know about this application while I was going through some previously reviewed applications. I went through the review and discovered that the app is aimed at reminding users about occasions, meetings, etc. After the discovery, I went to the app's GitHub repository and got a download link which aided me to download and install the app.
Please let me introduce the Repeat Me app to you; an app that reminds you lest you miss out on something.

What is Repeat Me?

source

Repeat Me is a task managing android application which is aimed at reminding users to do what they had planned on doing.
According to the repository, it is a clean and intuitive task managing app for Android created with Flutter.
It is also a lightweight, free and open source application which weighs approximately 12 MB of storage space.

The latest version of the app is the version 1.2.5 which was published 4 months ago. It is available for download both on Google Play and on F-Droid, or you can directly download the app.

Features of Repeat Me

Add a reminder: Adding a reminder is the one and only feature of the repeat me app, yet, it still has some features embedded in it. The 'add a reminder' feature has an icon which is at the down right corner of the screen. When it is clicked on, the sub-features of the app is shown.
The sub-features are; task name, repetition, pick time and pick colour.

The task name sub-feature allows a user to add the name of the task which he/she wants to create. When I was about to create a task, I started by adding the task name 'Go to Church'.

The repetition sub-feature allows a user to select the type of repetition he/she wants for the task which is being created. The user can either select the weekday, number or date repetition. The weekday option is to select the involved days of the week, the number option is to select the number of days before repeating, and the date option is for the user to select the specific day for the reminder.
Due to the fact that I am creating a reminder for a church program which occurs every Tuesdays and Thursdays, I selected the weekday option and then selected the weekdays involved.

The time sub-feature allows the user to select the time at which he/she wants to be reminded about the task. Once a click on it, an alarm clock will be shown for the setup.
I set the for going to church by 5:45 PM so I can use the remaining 15 minutes to prepare myself.

Finally, the pick colour sub-feature. The pick colour sub-feature is for beautifying the task which is about to be created. Normally, the default colour of every single task is a shade of blue colour, and if the user isn't satisfied with the default colour, he/she has the capability to change the colour to any of the 19 provided colours.
Though the default colour (blue) isn't bad, I didn't like it and wanted to make a difference. I successfully changed the colour of the task from blue to orange.

After I created the task and one more, this is what it looked like.

Comparing Repeat Me with To Do List (a similar app)

  • After I had launched the To Do List app, I discovered that it is presently impossible for users of the app to select a repetition timing like 1 week and 3 days. What the user can select is either 1 week or 2 weeks. On the Repeat Me app, users can set the repetition time to 1 week and 3 days (10 days).
  • On the To Do List app, users cannot select more than one weekday. On the Repeat Me app, users can select any number of weekdays they want.
  • On the Repeat Me app, a user can select their preferred colour for any task. On the To Do List app, user does not have the option to select a colour for any task.

How to use the app

  • Download and install the latest version of the app using the link I provided earlier.
  • Launch the app
  • Click on the plus symbol at the down right corner of the screen
  • Fill in the necessary fields required
  • Click on submit and that's all!

Conclusion

I'm glad to have found a free and open source app which is focused on task management. It's amazingly interesting.

Thank you for your contribution to the Repeat me project.

The post is extensive with the app uses, features, and a little of your experience. The comparison with a similar app is also good, but not well done. I would prefer a more comprehensive comparison. I have said it several times. If you wish to get the answer for comparison with a similar project on the questionnaire, you need to provide a detailed comparison with good visuals. I hope to see some improvements in your next publication.

Further, the writing could have a rework. There are many proofreading issues in the post. For conciseness, write simply, and clearly. Avoid using unnecessary words in your texts. Also, there are hard to read sentences, and I will cite an example.

I had made a plan to go to church in the evening but ended up not going because I forgot and only remembered it when I looked at my phone and discovered that I was already late and couldn’t make it.

You wrote that without a slight break(comma). I want you to read without breathing. How easy? Moreover, that could have been two or more sentences, depending on the phrasing.

Nonetheless, I appreciate the effort. Thank you!
