MULTIPLE EXPOSURE – Topic 7

For this last topic for me, I chose to create a multiple exposure shot. The idea came to me as I was creating my compilation post for the @sndbox Photography Quest. Often, that's how creative ideas come to me – when I am least expecting them! I had wanted to create a multiple exposure post, but was hitting a brick wall with ideas, and available time for me to work on it was running out.

For the compilation post, as I thought about creating a collage of images for the thumbnail, I thought about creating layers from all previous 6 topics and make a multiple exposure shot. Then it hit me! Here is Topic 7 for me! I wanted to create something that was representative of what a real multiple exposure on film would look like, where something of every layer would show through.

The colors of pink and green are no real accident! They are the colors of beach living, and are very popular on prints, fabric and outdoor furniture etc. here at the beach!

To create this effect, I layered all images from the six topics in Photoshop and used various blending modes and masking techniques to come up with my finished piece. It was not the work of just one set of the images though. After I merged some layers together, I would then merge some of the same layers again using different blending modes and masking! The end result is even the result of two “final” results which I merged yet again! You can find all six images in these posts:
