A NEW BEGINNING - ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHY AND POETRY
A NEW BEGINNING
As I watch the first snowdrop of spring
nod its white head
in greeting a new beginning
I remember the white mist on the sea
bringing rain
and the white gulls screaming for food
and the white-capped mountains
across the water and tales of long ago
told by a white-haired grandmother
and storms at sea
with raging white foam
and white scurrying clouds
I remember the pungent smell
of the caterpillars
of the cabbage white butterfly
and the heavenly perfume
of the night-scented-stock
I remember the feel of
a white school blouse
and I remember a white dress
with a long white veil
and I remember innocence
as I watch the first snowdrop of spring
nod its white head
and I pray for a new beginning.

Nice poem and photo!
Thanks! I appreciate your comment!
Very nice poem buddy. It felt like i was reading my own poem. Surprisingly our style matches a lot. :)
Wow! I didn't think of that! I wrote this poem a few years ago, and decided to publish it with my snowdrops shot!!
It really is a nice poem and you have rhymed it in a very good way. :)
Someone has white on their mind. :-)
And I wrote it many years ago too! Lol!
These are beautiful, always mean spring to me :) They are protected in Romania, can't be sold at the market but nobody cares. It's sad.
They are such beautiful flowers. perhaps they are endangered in Romania? It's good they are being protected then!
Fantastic and oh so relevant!
Thanks! Glad you like it. I wrote it many years ago when I was having a New Beginning! :-)
Still applies to other's new beginnings or other such transitions
WOW. what a beautiful poem and what a wonderful photo!
congratulations dear friend. you are always very talented
Thanks for your kind words!
Love how you put this prose together. At first, before I started reading it, when all the "whites" caught my eye, I thought, "Uh, oh - how is she going to make this work as a poem?" Two seconds later, I was sold. Excellent rhythm, and beautiful use of imagery. Best of luck in the contest!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. I run the #wiwcontest though. Lol!
forehead thwack
Dopey me! Guess I missed that...no wait, I knew that, and I meant to say, "Best of luck WITH the contest." Yeah, yeah, that's what I meant... LOL!
Hehe! It is so hard to keep track of everything on here!

Oh we have no blooms yet!
No snowdrops??? But they pop up early in January through the snow in Scotland 🏴 ! Unfortunately, they don't grow in Florida. Even here in north east Florida, we dont have a long enough winter freeze for the bulbs. 😢
