LANDSCAPE WITH WHITE STRUCTURE - WIWCONTEST CLARIFICATION
PLOCKTON, SCOTLAND
The theme for this week's wiwcontest (white is white contest) is – LANDSCAPE WITH WHITE STRUCTURE.
I would like to stress the following paragraph from yesterday's post announcing the new #wiwcontest theme LANDSCAPE WITH WHITE STRUCTURE because there seems to be some misunderstanding about what a landscape image is.
The Cambridge Dictionary definition of a landscape :
|a large area of countryside, usually one without many buildings or other things that are not natural
Your image should show a LARGE AMOUNT OF NATURAL ENVIRONMENT with a white structure of some sort in the scene. This could be a tower, a church, a whitewashed cottage, a monument, a lighthouse, a bridge etc., as long as it is white.
Here is an example of a landscape shot which happens to have a white house in the scene. (You may recognize this as a scene from the fictitious village of Lochdubh if you have watched Hamish Macleod on Netflix, a Scottish comedy TV show starring Robert Carlyle. It is actually the village of Plockton in north-west Scotland.

So, this is NOT about shooting buildings close up, or about cities with buildings! In this contest, there should be a LARGE AMOUNT OF NATURAL ENVIRONMENT (mountains, rivers, fields etc.) with the white structure taking up a relatively small part of the whole image. It should be a landscape shot which happens to have a white structure interrupting the natural scene.
There should not be crowds of people or lots of other buildings in the scene. This should be an image of a beautiful landscape, which also happens to have a white structure in the scene. There should be a sense of remoteness in the shot.
