Doctor Who in an Identity Politics Death Spiral

Link above is from the Nerdotic YouTube video that analyzes David Tennant's podcast where he interviews Jodi Whitaker. The Nerdronic Video series and podcast were my inspiration for this blog. Said it before and I'll sat it again, if they used Romana, and brought Jodi Whitaker into that role it would have been epic! Romana was the student Time Lord that ran with the 4th Doctor. And they would not have diminished their audience with their controversial identity politics agenda by making a female Doctor. And they could have had a spinoff called...wait for it...Romana! But, history has been made by making the worst decision in any sci-fi property. And that is saying a lot taking into account how hard Star Trek and Star Wars are screwed by the inclusion of identity politics.

Time Lord companion during the 4th Doctor era, the character of Romana, a Time Lord student, was a fan favorite for a long time. Pictured above is Layla Ward who is the best known actress to have played Romana. Ironically, she and Jodi Whitaker look similar. How could anyone have missed this? Well, when you do not hire fans of Doctor Who to write for Doctor Who, and instead hire a bunch of SJW political hacks, that's how you get what amounts to Doctor Who's worst season ever.

The fact that only a few seasons before, in Season 8, with Peter Capaldi, he was surprised that Missy had changed her sex, with the help of her doing some tinkering with the Cybermen, only compounds this issue. And in the very next season, (the last one I watched), they broke cannon when The Doctor point blank shot a Time Lord in the face. And then, immediately regenerated from a elderly man to an irate woman of African heritage. And the first thing she said was something about being happy to lose that "male ego". Right then and there I knew it was all over. And well, I was sick of that season by the time it was over for a lot of reasons.

It's all fun and games until you break Doctor Who cannon and have a Time Lord regenerate from an elderly white man into a butch looking woman of African heritage.

The main reason I began to loath Doctor Who during season 9 was that they brought back the Impossible Girl. Chiefly, Clara Oswald was explained when Matt Smith was Doctor. Over, done, finished! Not sure why they brought her back. But it was annoying as all Hell! And, this move speaks volumes to the lack of creativity the show began to foist upon it's fanbase.

The episode that ended my watching Doctor Who. While I did recently, skim through the next season to see if I'd like it, I didn't get very far at all. Too bad! Peter Capaldi was perfect to play The Doctor.

Tried to get back into it later because Calpaldi is awesome. But they stuck him with the baggy eyed grotesque Bill. And she was just too awful to look at and the actress isn't very good at all. Again, they made an identity politics thing out of it by pushing the idea she's gay. But there isn't enough makeup in the world to cover those tired bags under her eyes. Maybe they could have brought in an actress that actually sleeps now and then.

I can't be the only person who saw the massive bags under the eyes of Pearl Mackie, the actress who plays Bill Potts on Doctor Who Season 10. Not sure how someone can be so young and have such nasty bags under their eyes, but I suspect a lot of partying is had by this one. Also, the only thing she ever "acted" in before this series was a music video where she is in it for a few seconds and a few short films. It is claimed she was in a few plays, but there are no existing pics of this, hence, this seems like PR damage control put on by BBC once fans realized she wasn't very good.

Not sure why Peter Calpaldi went for it, as it is well known he has been a Doctor Who fan for a long time. But, here he is in the Season 9 series finale "Hell Bent" pointing a pistol at a Time Lord's head. Maybe the title of the episode should have been "BBC is Hell Bent on Ruining Doctor Who with Identity Politics".

When I tried to get back into the show watching some of Season 10, the Doctor came right out an claimed "capitalism" would be a "not existant" in the Great Human Empire. That too goes against cannon! For instance, what were the miners doing it for during Robots of Doom? What was The Sun Makers all about if there is no capitalism in the future? Communist brownie points? Sad, sad, state of affairs at BBC! But what can you expect from a company that forces people to pay a tax to exist as opposed to a subscription fee where they'd be forced to survive based on merit?

Further damaging cannon by proclaiming "capitalism didn't exist" in the Great Human Empire, The Sun Makers, gives a good example of how capitalism can be abused by greed. If it doesn't exist in the future, how are we supposed to get good sci-fi writing to warn people about how greed can sour the sweetness of capitalism?

Only a few series before the BBC deciding that "capitalism didn't exist" in the Great Human Empire, a Christmas special used a space luxury liner as a backdrop for an exciting adventure. Hey BBC, business will happen in space too! And Doctor Who was a great way to use narrative to make moralistic commentary on how humans use business ethics in the future!
