Halloween... not a real Dutch thing, but in my archives I had some pictures from a horror "party" in my small hometown. Hopefully those count as well? The party is lost because there weren't enough volunteers anymore to keep the party going. But it was always quit cool. The whole horror themed party wasn't at the exact Halloween date but somewhere nearby the Dutch holidays in December. So that's why it was called a horror party. The town it's name changes from Hansweert to Hellsweert. People from anywhere came to visit and wander through the gates of hell and have a hell of a party. 🎃👻
The people who did organize this created a route through the town, so people could wander from scene to scene and they could expect some surprises on their way to the party zone. But to fill a whole town with enough scenes to create a route from multiple hours of walking (I live in a very small town), you need a lot of volunteers. Sadly enough I think my town is to small to keep this event rolling for many years.
Halloween or Horror?
I don’t have much with Halloween itself, but the horror movies I do like. My favorite genre is the slasher. I don’t know why, but I like the suspense these films try to build. The music is pumping up your heartbeat, you got the idea breathing gets harder and there you have the moment nothing happens it is just an empty hallway. The camera rotates back and there it is the weirdo with a knife or something. Every slasher works like this and I can’t get enough from those.
At the cinemas here in the Netherlands, we got an slasher that is one of the most famous series in the slasher history from Hollywood. Halloween with Michael Myers. Didn’t see it yet, so can’t tell you if it’s good or not. Did you see it?
The first psychopathic killer of them all is probably Norman Bates, in the Hitchcock movie Psycho. But Norman isn’t the most iconic one I think. The podium is for three other members from the slasher family. Already mentioned Michael Meyers, but not to forget Jason Voorhees and my personal favorite Freddy Krueger.

My passion for this started at the age of 9 or something. Not sure about the exact age, but I was in the 6th class from primary school. One of the older guys grabbed a video from his older brother to watch at the last day of school before summer holidays started. HE brought us the first Childs Play, and the teacher hadn’t noticed the minimum age of 16 sign at the box. So she started the movie and after a few minutes there was something she needed to go out of the class. So we all looked this whole movie without any parent. We all looked terrified at the end of the movie. That night I was sleeping, oh no I wasn’t! I was way too scared to fall asleep, every time my mum switched the lights off I saw the damn puppet in my visions. From that moment I started to love that feeling this movie brought to me while being a kid. Brr “Hi I’m Chuckey and I’m your friend”

Will join the contest again at amateur level. As you could have read above, the picture I choose for this contest is with a figure from my personal favorite horror genre. I do love Frankenstein and all the other creeps but none of them bring the same suspense as a creep you can meet anywhere in the world!

Hahahha I am seeing some resemblences here. As a kid we watched a lot of Nightmare of Elm streets ot birthaysparties with 'the girls'. This was all fine an in the end we felt like heroes for entirely watching it.
On the contrary of that I started watching IT by myself as a kid and was scared so shitless that untill this very day, I havent watched it to the end through. Horrorstuff isnt really my thing I guess. That kind of suspense makes me very unease and I dont find any joy in watching these kind of movies so I just stopt doing it for the sake of my heart hahahaha.
Halloween on the other hand is super beautiful and it is cool to see that your town made so much effort in doing it right!

hehe I can imagine you don't want to stress out your hearth to much. How olw where you while you tried IT? So you didn't try the new IT version from last year I assume?
All the work here in my little town was really great indeed. Normally people do things all for themselves, but at those moments everyone works together as if its normal helping each other out. How is Halloween in Switzerland?
