7th Class – Learning About Local Contests on Steemit

Hello everyone! I hope you all are doing well and enjoying your life.
Today I am very excited to share with you the details of my 7th class where I taught my students about local contests on Steemit and how they can participate in them to improve their writing and creativity.

Introduction to Local Contests

One of the best ways for newcomers to grow on Steemit is by participating in weekly contests. These contests give students:

  • A chance to practice writing regularly.
  • An opportunity to be creative and original.
  • A way to earn rewards while learning.
  • More visibility and engagement in the community.

But sometimes it is difficult for new users to find active contests because each community runs its own.

Introducing @disconnect

To solve this issue I introduced my students to the account @disconnect.

  • This account collects all the active contests on Steemit and lists them in one place.
  • Instead of checking communities one by one students can simply visit the @disconnect blog and find all contests in a single post.
  • This makes it very easy for newcomers to save time and focus on writing quality content.

I showed my students how to visit this account check the listed contests and select the one they are interested in.

Recipe Contest Practice

After introducing contests I specifically taught my students about Recipe Contests since they are very popular and enjoyable for beginners.

What I Taught Them:

  1. How to Take Good Food Pictures

    • Use natural light for clear pictures.
    • Take step-by-step pictures while cooking.
    • Always take a final picture of the prepared dish.
  2. How to Write the Recipe Post

    • Start with an introduction about the dish.
    • List the ingredients clearly.
    • Write the preparation steps in order.
    • Add pictures for each step.
    • End with a conclusion and personal note.
  3. How to Participate in the Contest

    • Choose an ongoing contest from @disconnect’s list.
    • Write the recipe according to the rules.
    • Use the correct tags.
    • Publish the post in the right community.

Students Recipe Posts

After the class my students practiced by writing their own recipe posts. Here are some of the entries they made:

  1. Sweet Washala – Recipe of the Day Week 75 – by @zaynadreams
  2. Delicious Pizza – Recipe of the Day Week 75 – by @zaynadreams
  3. Today’s Macaroni Recipe – by @economist2027
  4. Lobia (Black-Eyed Beans) Recipe – by @hina-imran
  5. Crispy Pakora – Recipe of the Day Week 75 – by @rema-khan

These posts are proof that the students understood the lecture and applied what they learned practically.

This class was very productive because my students learned:

  • How to find contests on Steemit easily through @disconnect.
  • How to take part in recipe contests step by step.
  • How to prepare posts with proper pictures and descriptions.

By the end of the lecture my students successfully wrote and published their first recipe contest entries which is a big achievement for them.

I am very happy with their progress and in the next class we will continue exploring new ways to grow on Steemit.
