EasyDex Photography Challenge Post # 2

Crack my brains!

An original creative photo of an object of every day. That is the assignment for the Easydex Photocontest this week. And seriously, I cracked my brains to come up with an idea. A bit stuck in the photo that @boyerobert had placed at his post I kept looking around in the garden.

The rain barrels maybe? It was a challenge, but in my opinion I could not come to the right insight to make THE photo. Maybe then the homemade simple box where we have now placed flowers. Hmmm fun, definitely colorful, very bright ... but this looks nice NOW, only later in the winter it will not look like this. So it is not that everyday again. That idea also disappears from my mind. But then what?

The Idea!

Yesterday evening my sister and her friend unexpectedly came to visit. We sat outside with the dogs and were reminiscing about the time that I lived with my sister, and a then very young Rowan and Myla. We got it over my eyes, and I'm so very happy with my cheap new glasses that I have been wearing for a year now ... after having walked around for about 7 years with broken glasses. (I have contact lenses for most of the time, but in the morning when I wake up and in the evening before I go to sleep I really need glasses) ... and suddenly I knew it!

I had to photograph glasses! And the old broken glasses, on Rowan's nose. Why?

The why I came up with this ...

The glasses are really a daily object for me. I was 15 months old when I got my first glasses, and without it I'm really blind. I just have real bad eyes. I also have a hatred / love relationship with those glasses. Because I have always been bullied, I have a huge dislike. But because I see very poorly without tools, and glasses on certain points is much easier as contact lenses, I also love those glasses.

Because of the enormous strength that my eyes need, a new pair of glasses could not be paid for a long time. Health insurance policies may reimburse 100 euros per 2 years, but if you have to wear glasses that cost you 700 euros at the start, you will not have any money if you have lost your income.

Finally CHEAP glasses.

Until last year we saw an advertisement where you can have a new pair of glasses for only 69 euros. I did not dare to go at first, I decided to give it a try, and eventually I ended up wearing glasses ... for the first time in years I have been so happy that I often stop it all day long. A new experience for me. Since I got contact lenses about 30 years ago, I never really stopped my glasses. So until now ...

So in that respect you may say that glasses are a very necessary, but especially DAILY OBJECT for me. Why then photograph on the nose of Rowan?

Rowan's fault.

Because it is his fault that my old glasses are broken and scratched so that I hardly saw anything anymore through those glasses. Rowan has always been a very sweet dog, and has almost never broken anything. As a puppy he once scrapped a very expensive pillow in his bench when I was 10 minutes away ... but outside of that I was always very proud of my cuddly bear. He would never take something that was not allowed.

One night my sister and I were chatting, and Micky, Rowan and Myla were all around us. All quiet, playing in their own way. And I wanted to change my lenses for my glasses ... which was nowhere to be found. I asked my sister if she would have put my glasses elsewhere. (Read here: Or said my glasses had cleaned up, I have to admit that I am a slush fox and not so neat in those things). But said did not know anything. I was sure I had put my glasses on the table. Despite the fact that I am not always nice ... I always know what I am doing all around.

OH NO ... Rowan what did you do?

Suddenly the picture came to my eyes that I had seen Rowan sitting at the table an hour ago ... I listened well and heard his teeth on something hard that he seemed to have the greatest fun with. Alarmed, I flew up and could remove a glass from his mouth. After looking around, we found the second glass under his foreleg and underneath the table was the frame. Expertly demolished by my beloved dog! And he was playing with so much fun. Getting angry does not make any sense if he had been working on this for more then one hour ... we picked up the glasses and assembled everything as good as possible. With several times using super glue again, the glasses have lasted for about 7 years.

So therefore a pair of glasses in the picture ... on the nose of Rowan. The glasses are a daily object, and though Rowan is NOT an OBJECT, luckily he is DAILY in my life.
