Why is this good for minnows AND whales?
A wonderful and fascinating artifact of this is that it is far easier for a $0.01 vote to return $0.02 to its voter than for a $1 vote to return $2. Therefore, minnows can double their value faster than whales. Just like a game, leveling up is easier at the beginning.

The point is: redfish and minnows, upvote everything at 10-15 minutes that
- has less than a few cents worth of votes so far
and - you think will be worth even a dollar

This is an excellent point. The higher your vote weight, the fewer heavier voters there are above you.
Thanks! I felt pretty pleased with the game designer's inclusion of this balancing mechanism for players who are behind. Like, it's still good for the players who are winning, but allows players who are behind some hopes of catching up a little through curation.
