The painting was done in oils, is 9” x 12”, and it’s on birch (unframed).

The lighting in this paining is again great. Spot on with the color of lemons and limes too. I Tried painting a lemon once but it turned out to look like a lime. LOL. I like that you threw in a Corkscrew. I’m sure the reason it is there may be obvious, I’m thinking hard, not sure. I like it though. I love when there something different in a paining then just the regular old stuff. Unexpected is cool. I also like paining things that have an odd number of items. In your case five pieces of fruit. Best wishes with the auction.
Thank you! I'm happy that you've been appreciating my work :) I decided to throw in the corkscrew to assist with the composition. Not only did I feel that it correlated with the design, but it also helped aid the viewer's eye through the movement of the painting. Yeah the odd/even concept is helpful, but I wouldn't overthink it. There are plenty of instances where it is simply arbitrary.
Excellent painting, James! I like the process you used as well. You seem to have the values and colors in the right place. Was this painted from life or by using a photo reference?
@mattphilleo Thank you, I really appreciate that :) This still life was done from life. I always paint from life. I have been very receptive lately in incorporating photographic reference material within my work, but I have yet to figure out how to integrate the practice seamlessly. I was taught to only paint from life.

James, do you deliver by DHL to Germany? I live in Dresden, if that is useful for pricing the delivery.
I've never used DHL but I just looked it up and it is waaaaaayy more expensive. I've always used USPS with great results :)
