So so many leaves - Actifit: October 27 2019
Maybe you saw the post I shared the other day about the maple tree in my front yard? Well. All of its leaves have come down.
I managed to get a lot of them collected into piles, but then I had a yard work project with my “House Girls” group (at the home of my sister, @ducksaplenty and brother-in-law @preparedwombat) and I had to leave it in that condition and hope it wouldn’t rain before I got back to bag them.
I definitely did not want to leave these piles in the street!
Fortunately my amazing sister still had the energy to help me after we completed her project. We bagged leaves with my husband until after dark! And we still have a lot to do.
But I have to say, it was a great day for steps!

Yes, one week the trees are in their full glory then the next week they all look dead. Was on my walk this weekend and noticed the same thing... one heavy rain is all we need to go from a gorgeous vista to ... blah. :-) have fun raking. Me, I'm just gonna mow them over :-)

Yes, mowing them is certainly an option, especially if they aren't too thick. Mine are about three or four inches thick and I fear they will leave a smothering mulch on top of my grass!
It really is mind-bogglingly quick how it switches over. Fortunately, we have the holidays to look forward to, and the New Year, and then Valentine's Day... and about the time we all think we can't take the cold anymore, the days start getting longer again and there's hope for spring!

It’s amazing how fast the leaves fall after a few nights of frost. Your street looks lovely and peaceful, Jayna.
I’m glad you got your leaves bagged before it rained or a strong wind. 😊
Thank you! Yes, I got a lot of them off the lawn. But there's still more. Next year I think I will hire a service!
It was definitely a wonderful and active day. The street is very beautiful in this autumn landscape, I imagine it is a very good place for play and meeting for children.
Yes, we have a ton of kids around. It's a quiet street, so they can ride everywhere safely on their bikes.
Yes, it looks like a perfect place for this.
Poor, poor bald tree. I don't know about you, but I need to fight the urge to run through piles of leaves like a little kid every time I see them.
Oh yes, we should all run through them! Kicking and squealing! Don't fight the urge. It's one of life's greatest joys. :-)
