The swirled Brook / Der verwirbelte Bach (ICM Photography)

At the beginning of January I was in a to me new valley, the Zadnjica valley in Slovenia. There is more about it in a follow-up post.

At the Krajcarica brook, which flows through the valley, I tried once again ICM - Intentional Camera Movement.

Anfang Jänner bin ich in einem für mich neuen Tal gewesen, dem Zadnjica Tal in Slovenien. Mehr dazu gibt es in einem Folgepost.

Am Krajcarica Bach, der durch das Tal fließt, habe ich mich wieder einmal in ICM - Intentional Camera Movement - beabsichtigte oder vorsätzliche Kamerabewegung versucht.

For my photo above made two photos: an ICM version with zoom ring rotation and a sharp photo for my photo. In Photoshop I blended the stream from the sharp photo into the ICM photo.

So the title is wrong, because it is not the stream that is swirled around, but the forest and the surrounding area.

Ich habe bei meinem Foto einmal eine ICM Version mit Zoomringdrehung und ein scharfes Foto gemacht. In Photoshop habe ich den Bach vom scharfen Foto in das ICM Foto eingeblendet.

Der Titel ist also falsch, denn nicht der Bach ist verwirbelt, sondern der Wald und die Umgebung.

What is ICM?

Instead of shooting the photo as sharply as possible, ICM deliberately blurs it with a longer exposure time combined with movement, and there are different ways to do it, as you can

Zoom - the zoom ring of the lens is rotated during the recording, so that a picture like the one shown here is created. Also, instead of rotating the zoom ring, you can hold the zoom ring and turn the camera.
Camera rotation - the camera is rotated without zooming nor holding the zoom ring.
Pan - the camera is panned instead of rotated.
Up and down, back and forth - depending on the direction of rotation, vertical or horizontal blurring occurs.

Was ist ICM?

Anstatt das Foto so scharf wie möglich zu schießen, wird dieses bei ICM absichtlich durch eine längere Belichtungszeit in Verbindung mit Bewegung unscharf gemacht, wobei es verschiedene Möglichkeiten dazu gibt, und zwar kann man

Zoomen - dabei wird während derAufnahme der Zoomring des Objektives gedreht, so dass eine Aufnahme wie meine hier gezeigte entsteht. Anstatt den Zoomring zu drehen, kann man auch den Zoomring festhalten und die Kamera drehen.
Kameradreh - hier wird die Kamera gedreht, ohne den Zoomring festzuhalten.
Schwenken - die Kamera wird geschwenkt anstatt gedreht.
Auf und ab, hin und her - je nach Schwenkrichtung entstehen vertikale oder horizontale Verwischungen.
