In this post, I would like to share with you about trip of sand issues in the Bono Region of Ghana by truck drivers and builders

Getting the right sand to build these days is becoming a problem. Drivers of trucks that produce sand for building of houses find dubious means to represent other trip of sand to masons or builders. This has been a major concern throughout the years. When you do not use the right sand in building, weather conditions find a way to destroy your building.

It has been a public outcry that, the prices of trip of sand is increasing daily. This raised a major concern which was reported by Adom Fm in their 6 O'clock news last two months. In the Bono Region of Ghana specifically Sunyani, Berekum, Techiman, Drobo and Dormaa, the prices of a trip of sand for building has become something of concern. Last year, a trip of sand which costs Gh¢1,300 which is equivalent to (791.21 steem) now is Gh¢2,200 which is equivalent to (1338.97 steem). This increase in the prices of sand has reduced building in parts of Berekum specifically Domfete new site in the Bono Region.

Drivers of trucks of sand believe that in the rain season, people who buy sand get a lot of it due to how socked the sand is. Whereas in the dry season, sand becomes so light that, it cannot perform all the assignments wet season sand can perform.

Upon inquires from truck drivers, they state emphatically that, some sands are used in moulding of blocks whilst others are used in plastering. Each of them has its price.

Sand truck drivers in the Bono Region of Ghana take sand from Amomaso, Kyeraa and Gambia. Because of how exhaustive the road to Gambia is, the sand taken from there is given higher prices. Other cheats drivers also buy sand from Amomaso and sleep overnight and come back to tell that they picked it from Gambia. What are the differences in sand? Gambia sand has fine texture whereas Amomaso sand has fine rough texture. Builders are advised to use Amomaso sand to mould blocks and use Gambia sand in plastering.

Price of Amomaso sand currently is Gh¢1,600 which is equivalent to (973.79 steem) whereas Gambia sand is Gh¢2,200 which is equivalent to (1338.97 steem). But will one prefer Amomaso sand to Gambia sand? certainly no! but with quality one has to pay more.
