More From the Car Show

Still at the Knight's of Columbus Car Show at Mission San Buenaventura. A couple more images. I'm posting them for the daily #MonoMad photo contest created by @brumest and curated by @monochromes but, since they're in sepia, I'll add a #SepiaSaturday, for that great weekly challenge created by @old-guy-photos.

In the first image, the car is so shiny that it's almost like you're looking at the surroundings rather than a car. There's even a photographer crouched down on the bumper ;-) Many of the contestants spent a lot of time during the show wiping off dust or leaves that settled on their entry.

Lowrider culture is big in this area, and one of the symbols of a lowrider is the Pendleton jacket. Here's one ironed and starched, ready for wear. Despite the heat, we saw several men, and even fathers and sons, sporting Pendletons. They usually just button the top button. It made us smile because my wife's brother was in a lowrider car club back in the day. He had a beautiful Chevy Impala. We recalled him carefully ironing his Pendleton and then hanging it up in the car so it wouldn't wrinkle during one of their events.
