CITYSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY AND ART CONTEST WEEK #138 - Old houses on the old street
When I first saw such old houses, I immediately wanted to live in one of them. I went into the entrance and found there a wooden staircase leading to the second floor. I climbed the wide creaking stairs and imagined how wonderful it would be to do it every day. But apartments in such houses are not for sale, because there are very few houses left, they are resettled and demolished. Instead, soulless glass boxes and other architecturally monstrous structures stuffed with synthetics are being built.
I live near this quiet street and often come here to walk in peace and quiet. But sometimes I get upset when I notice that another "masterpiece" of modern architecture grows instead of one cozy house.
I know people who don't want to part with their homes. They have lived here all their lives and they would like this street to retain its former appearance. Why is everything like this? These houses are still strong and it is enough to update them, paint them and continue to use them. But they are small, two-storey and the apartments in them are very large with high ceilings. It turns out that houses are unprofitable for someone and from a high-rise built on the same place you can have a much larger income.
How beautifully the shadows of old lime trees fall on the warm walls of these houses... On new buildings standing nearby, such shadows no longer work. I don't notice them there at all.
All the good things in our cities come to an end someday and are replaced by nothing. So far I haven't seen a single new house that I would like to live in.

Unfortunately, this seems to be a general trend. Construction companies need profits and they don't really care about everything else.
