SEARCHING THE RIVER OF GOLD
Genesis 2: 11-12

This river was made to irrigate the garden so that products full of life would grow in it. Undoubtedly it also satisfied the thirst of man so that he could survive. All that means that the river produced the flow of life. In our physical life we must drink a lot of water to maintain the circulation of our blood. The flow of our physical life depends on water. In the same way, day after day we must take the water of life to keep the flow of divine life within us. This gives us the spiritual circulation of the divine life.
The river flows from Eden, which means that it flows from God. In Revelation 22, the river of water of life comes from the throne of God. It is also a flow that comes from God himself. God, life itself, is the source of living water, and it flows to us so that we can enjoy it.
This river is a single river. Do you have two rivers? Although there may be a thousand believers here, we still have only one river because we all come from the same source: God the Creator. The source is one; therefore, the course must also be one.
This unique river was divided into four arms (Gen. 2: 10-14). What does that mean? This means that the river comes from God, who is the source and the center, to reach men in all directions. In the Bible the number one is the number of God, the Creator, because He is unique. Number four represents man, the creature. Since men live in the four directions, God's only river flows in all directions to reach them.
The name of the first arm is Pisón, which means "to run freely" (Isaiah 55: 1, Rev. 22:17). This river flows at no cost, because it is free. It flows to the land of Havila, which means "to grow". This arm of the river flows freely so that everything that contains life grows (Ezra 47: 9, 12).
This flow also contains gold, which represents the divine nature (2 Pet. 1: 4). If you do not experience this, you will not understand what it means; If you have some experience, you can say: "Amen." When the life of God flows in us, it brings us the gold, the divine nature. In the perspective of growth in life, it is very good to be men of dust. However, we need the gold element to be added to us. With time, we will become men of gold. In 1 Corinthians 3 Paul admonishes us to be careful with our building work, and asks us to use the right materials, of which the first is gold. Also, in Revelation 1 we are told that the churches are golden candlesticks. Candlesticks are not made of clay, but of gold.
In Romans 9, we are dust; in Revelation 1, we are gold. How can dust be replaced by gold? The divine life must flow within us to impart the gold to us. The same thing happens with the physical gold that is frequently found in a river. Before experiencing Christ as the flow of life, we had nothing of the divine nature, nothing of gold. Now we have gold in us because of the flow of divine life. Something precious and weighty has been introduced into us, the very element of God.
The flow of the river also produces the pearl. It represents the new regenerated man (Mt. 13:45) because the pearl is not a created element but a substance that has been transformed.
In addition, the flow of the river produces the onyx stone, which represents the transformed man, who expresses the glorious image of God (Rev. 4: 3; 2 Cor. 3:18).
The first arm, Pisón, means that the river of life flows freely, making all things grow and bringing with it three kinds of precious materials: gold, pearl and precious stones. If we read the entire Bible, we will see that these materials are found in the New Jerusalem. The materials brought by the flow of the river of life serve to build the dwelling place of God. They can only be brought by the flow of divine life. In other words, the divine life that flows in us makes us the materials for the building of God. This is the meaning of the first arm of the river.
