My Lollipop Loving Tiger's First Trick or Treating

in #life6 years ago

Last night was one of the funnest parts of being a parent: my daughter's first Halloween she could participate in. You've never seen a happier Little Rabbit dressed as a tiger running around the streets on Halloween.

My Little Rabbit was so excited to be running around new territories. Typically, she stays in the yard or on the porch or in the house when we visit her grandma's. This time we ventured out into the neighborhood and Little Rabbit was the most hyper kid I've ever seen who hadn't had sugar yet. All day long I made Little Rabbit drink milk or water and fed her healthier meals to prepare for giving her a bit of candy.

If you'd have seen Little Rabbit you'd have thought she'd had caffeine they way she didn't stop. She wanted to explore and loved all the new people telling her how cute she was as we knocked on doors to trick or treat. Those tiny little legs walked and walked. She wouldn't let me or her daddy carry her so we walked very slowly.

We trick or treated with her cousin and tried to hit up enough houses to satisfy an 11 year old kid. At some point it was getting late and Little Rabbit's speed slowed down so we carried her for a while. Then, mommy and daddy got tired so daddy got the car and we did the lazy form of trick or treating by driving. Sadly, Halloween isn't as popular these days so houses with lights and decorations were very spaced out since only a few here and there celebrate. Driving made the night a little easier on my bad back.

We started trick or treating just before dark in the neighborhoods near my mother's house which is where I grew up. For the first time since I was a child I walked the streets taking Lille Rabbit trick or treating. She was so adorable. She's two years old and can't say a lot of words but she does know "bye" and "thank you" which she gave out to person after person.

Cashing In On Cuteness

We'd go to a house and people would answer and see Little Rabbit. Typically, the response was "awww" and they'd give her some candy in her bag. Little Rabbit not knowing better would reach for the whole bowl of candy. The person giving the candy would think she was so cute they'd let her have a few more pieces because they didn't want to disappoint her by taking the bowl away. So yeah....Little Rabbit got a big haul from very few houses just because she's so cute.

Finally, I was so tired and I started to feel bad that I called it a night. We headed back to my mother's to rest and let Little Rabbit calm down from all the excitement. I dumped out her candy and she knew what the lollipops were but not the rest. She had one lollipop then assumed the rest of the candy was toys. She managed to undwrap some M&Ms and proceeded to line them up on the floor and put them in a cup to play with them. I think she liked all the colors. Someone gave her a tiny stuffed dog so she played with that.

Then came the meltdown. The exhaustion hit her all at once. She lets me know when she wants to go home by grabbing my baby bag and heading for the front door. When I didn't get up to leave she threw herself to the floor and cried. I'd say it was her first really big temper tantrum ever. We had quite a few tantrums before we could get out the door. Poor Little Rabbit was so exhausted. She was out cold within minutes of getting in the car to go home.

All in all it was a really fun night for Little Rabbit and us. My husband and I loved taking her trick or treating and seeing how adorable she was. The kid had a blast.

That sweet little face!

I hope she doesn't go into sugar overload! :O

Glad to hear she got a large charge out of your evening out.

😄😇😄

@creatr

She didn't. She's actually a pretty healthy eater. She'll pick fruit or rice cakes over junk food right now but I'm sure that'll change as she gets older. She doesn't even know most of the stuff she got is candy. She thinks they are toys which is fine with me. :)

LOL! Better to play with than to eat!

Pure genius! :D

Aww she is incrediably cute!!! She got a nice haul as well! You may have to sample one of each...you know strictly as your duty and not that you would want any of course LOL

I may have sampled a Twix bar already lol. As a parent I have to check the candy to make sure it's good enough for my child. :)

Yes, Ma'am. It is your duty ;) Kind of like me needing to test/check the Ramen for Ben :-0
