It's been 1 year - so I should probably do that post that every 1 year old does.

in #steemit6 years ago (edited)

I only discovered that I was 1 year old by chance

I was checking Steemd today to see where my voting power was at and I happened to see that my account was 365 days old.

What a surprise! I knew it would be coming soon but I had no idea that it was today. I've been so busy with real life stuff over the past couple of months that I haven't even been all that active on Steemit.

But seeing that my account is now 1 year old makes me wonder what style of "1 Year Anniversary" post should I create?

  • Should it be a "this is what I've learned" post?
  • Should I brag about my amazing 1.3k SP and make all the planktons feel inspired about the amazing wealth you can build here? (please detect my sarcasm.)
  • Should I boast about my impressive reputation score? (It's not even a purchased reputation score.)
  • Should I talk about how Steemit has changed my life and made my cheeks blush with happiness? (You're probably wondering which cheeks I'm referring to.)

I honestly have no idea. I don't think I want to do any of those things. And in all honesty if you wanted to read about how to build an impressive account here there are plenty of others here who are better qualified to do so. (apart from the likes of anyone called Jerry or Joe, don't listen to those charming chaps)

I do have one impressive claim to fame though, my account is entirely built on my posting here on Steemit and DTube. I have never purchased Steem. And this is something that I am proud of. That's not to say that you shouldn't purchase Steem, if you can afford to you absolutely should (not investment advice). The more Steem you hold, the more your vote is worth. And if you use your Steem Power wisely, your return on investment can be very impressive indeed.

The reason that I haven't purchased any Steem is because I have existed for the past 3 years without any income. And that is also why my posting frequency has been very poor lately. I've been working hard to fix this situation.

And it makes me happy to let you know that I am very close to finding that all important paid position. I have one job offer coming my way and will be completing a pre-employment medical for another position this week. And that will hopefully mean that I have another job offer coming my way shortly after.

Source

And even better, the second job offer is for a position that will let me live in Adelaide again. And that's been the goal for some time now. Living back home with my family would be amazing, and something that I haven't done for more than 10 years.

So it's this real life stuff that has prevented you from reading an amazing and articulate "1 Year Anniversary" post. I truly love this platform, and would never leave it, not even for CLive's shitty Lino thing (wankers). So I should be raving about how awesome Steemit is and inspiring you with messages to keep posting frequently, with quality material, and espousing the potential for huge wealth and crypto wet dreams here. But I won't.

Instead, I'll simply give you an update on my real life stuff that will hopefully lead to an even better update in a week or so.

So, since I haven't brought you any impressive pearls of wisdom, perhaps you can drop some wise bits of Steemit advice in the comments. How should one live out there first year of life on Steemit? How should a person grow their account to much more impressive levels than mine during their first year in this lovely little place of ours?

Thanks mate. I'm happy with the progress. However if I'd kept up the daily posting over the past couple of months it would look better. :P

Happy Birthday!!! ;-)

I love sangria regardless the cold weather 😁

Hey, @mazzle.

I think in your case, you don't have to anything else other than what you did. There is no silver bullet here, and if there were, everyone would know it. As you stated, the most important thing is straightening out your personal financial situation, and it sounds to me like, one way or another, you are there.

I'm just happy for you and I hope that this all works out for the best, and even better if that's what you want. :)

Thanks mate, I'm pretty excited about where I'll be in one months time. Things are progressing, and I'll soon have a nice income. I might even be able to buy some Steem lol... :D

Looks like STEEM's on it's way down some more, so hey, we'll try to keep it affordable in the meantime, I guess. :)

Sounds like the idea is to keep moving forward and doing what you can until something breaks your way. The day is ultimately won by the persistent.

It would be nice if Steem was unaffordable by then. :)

Great to hear, @mazzle! Fingers crossed that you receive multiple offers and that you face a tough choice as to which offer to choose!

Cheers!!!

Thanks mate, glad to see you're still checking in. :)

Congratulations @mazzle! You have received a personal award!
