I think I read that they are moving north in Europe, so maybe you will begin to see them.

I used to get to see egrets and herons at one point in my life. They were pretty nice looking. I am glad that they did make a recovery, sometimes it is easy for us to think only of the now not the later.
I hope mankind is learning to get better at planning for the future, otherwise the earth doesn't stand a chance. Thank goodness someone a hundred plus years ago saw what was happening to the egrets and saved them for us!

They are a beautiful bird, Melinda and you managed to get some great photos of them.
Thank you! Do you ever see them there? I only see them infrequently here. Maybe I don't hang out in the right swamps!
We actually have a few white and gray ones here at the bay. They tend to hang out in the shallower areas near the reeds. I have had the grey one's land in my backyard. They come to my little pond and eat my koi goldfish. So, now I don't restock them every year. ugh!
Raccoons do fish pond damage around here. Easy pickins for them, too.

Oh, I have them too, I actually think the coons got them one year as my gardens were a wreck after. The crane usually just grabs them.
