Spring Cleaning

Despite having a day off from the office, today was a continuation of work as the family was busy getting some chores done around the house. We also had people coming in to give some touchups to the paint on the ceilings and fix a small leak we have had. While it wasn’t planned, it became a spring cleaning day. Amazingly, it was the first purposeful one that we have had since moving to the new house years ago. Therefore, you can imagine how much stuff there was to clean and throw away.

I started the day by doing what I typically do every couple of weeks which was mowing the lawn and cleaning the pool. By the time I finished doing that, my wife already had started taking stuff out of the garage and mentioned that it would be a good day to go to the dumpster and throw out some of the articles we’ve been holding onto for a while. She recognized that since we had bought the new pick up truck earlier this year, we should get to use it for this occasion. While I thought I was almost done with my chores for the day, I quickly found out it was just getting started. We started looking all over the house starting with the garage and finding things that we no longer used and have been waiting for the moment to throw out. It is amazing how clutter accumulates over time.

Then, it was on to the yard as we still had remnants of Hurricane Irma from almost 2 years ago when our fences was knocked down completely. We continues to take things to the front of the house and quickly noticed the amount of garbage we really had. We looked at ourselves and question what else were we missing so we went together as a family room by room and caught up on a couple of things. No major surprises as my wife tends to keep the house pretty good as she is totally against clutter. However, my daughter came up with the brilliant idea to take some of her things that she no longer uses and donate to charity. I was pretty proud hearing her think about this by herself as I don’t recall ever thinking of those in need at that age. That makes me proud given where I am at at my stage of life and the things I’ve have been trying to do here on Steem.

Making Sure I Use My Voting Power!

I think it is a good season to look how we can always start something new. I, myself, have started a number of initiatives here on the ecosystem these last couple of days. First, I did a purge of those that I follow after realizing a growing number that have not been engaging on the platform anymore. This allowed me to reduce my following count by almost 40 which I quickly started to add to once again quickly there after. It has not really altered my engagement, but as I suspect that many will come back as the price continues to rise, I imagine that those will wonder where I have gone when I no longer engage in their post. However, it will be a learning to those that leave and come back when things are better; the community will support those that remained consistent and believed in what was being built here no matter the price.

Below 200 Again

I also started to test out the new front-end interface to the Steem Blockchain. I downloaded the eSteem Surfer for my computer. The fact that a separate application for the computer works is great within itself. I have already made number of posts as I have seen some of the benefits by using it. For example, yesterday while I was at an event that I had for work, I had scheduled a post before leaving my home and during the event saw that it was posted as expected. This is not the only front-end that does this but it was a good option to see them have it. I have not really experimented on the application with engagement but everything else I have used looks pretty good. It has also been great to see the upvote the project provides to some of the posts made using it. It is larger than most of the upvotes I have been accustomed to seeing on my content so that makes it attractive to continue it use. However, I have read that 10% of payout is given to the developers to support further growth of the project. I really don’t see this being an issue as projects should be supported given their efforts in developing a working product. There are others that do the same so it is a way to ensure sustainability of projects. In addition, it is unlikely (for me) that the 10% exceeds the amounts from the upvote given from them so it is mostly well worth the use of the application.

The last housekeeping item I continue to have for my account is the fact I have yet to deploy the Steem that I purchased this week (edit: actually made some moves after writing this). While I still have an idea of what I want to do, I still struggle with the amounts to allocate amongst my ideas. However, I will come to a decision within the next couple of days in order to start benefiting from thr Steem Power. I am also preparing for an upcoming family vacation which will keep me quite busy and may actually reduce my engagement temporarily here with the community. Lastly, I’m at the tail end of some of my personal finance changes I have been doing over the last couple of months and with that I will be able to see the availability of some funds to distribute into my cryptocurrency portfolio. Therefore, some interesting times to come! I look forward to continue to share the journey!
