Application For June, 2022 Steemit Engagement Challenge

It is my delight to submit my application for the June community engagement challenge for steemkids community. This is in response to the update from you, @steemitblog. I will like steemkids community to take part.

I sincerely appreciate the 7 communities that took part in the 1st season. They really did wonderfully well.

Steemkids Community Purpose

This is a community that aims at improving and touching the lives of kids around the globe. Every kid between the ages of 13 and 19 have the freedom to learn and share what they have learned in the community. It was founded to train, educate and reward the kids to grow and become leading steemians in the future.

Our Vision Statement

To create a safe future for our kids and unborn generations. We see a future where children are completely safe and have the best environments to pursue their dreams and aspirations through our community projects. We imagine a future where the steem blockchain powers real life-changing opportunities for children all over the world. That is our vision.

Our Mission Statement

Every child matters and deserve all the best things in life. we aim at supporting children around the world to reach their full potentials irrespective of their environment or their limitations. To encourage people to support children in every form no matter the social status, religious background,ethnicity and class.

Brief History

Steemkids community was conceived by me when I was carrying out a task in the steemit crypto academy by the then professor @yousafharoonkhan which involved the creation of a community as a practice section and after consultations with some friends like @benton3, @peachyladiva and @focusnow, it finally was launched on the 14th of June, 2021 through this introduction post. We admitted as members kids between the ages mentioned above and kids lovers who create kids related contents.

• We launched our very first project that aimed at engaging the kids and members of the community which we tittled school runs on school days on 14th June. It was first updated daily and later weekly, and then finally, school sections depending on the part of the country one is writing from. We rewarded the most engaged users accordingly.

• On 24th June, we published a guide on the type of content that can be created in the community in this post which helped the members to have ideas of the topics they can create in the community. We have kept refining this till today to suit the current update from the steemit team. Today, we now have this post that cares for the same need.

• As a community that is founded to improve the lives of kids, we carried out our first charity project starting from the survey stage to it's execution here

• We got booming support on 5th July after achieving +100 active poster and +300 subscribers.

• We won 3rd place in the August 2021 spud4steem promotion here

• We started a holiday lesson project on August 7th where we recruited teachers to handle classes on subjects like English, Mathematics, Phonics and so on. The kids kept themselves busy with the tasks through out the holidays. Week 2 holiday lesson project

• On 19th August, we started verifying our kids via this announcement

• On 27th August, we launched our #savebypowerup project, a weekly powerup event here

• We won the community support program for September, 2021

We kept adjusting our projects to suit the current situation until today where we have the following

• Grassroot crypto education by @fredquantum

• Funny, annoying and exciting weekends with kids which we have changed to funny, annoying and Exciting Diary With Kids (kids diary game)

• skids-corner. We have through this project, supported the kids and encouraged them to become more active and improve in their writing skills. We have had some outstanding kids who emerged as steemkids celebrity over the the past months. These ones we have sought to encourage further by the next project, steemkids Hall Of Fame.

• Steemkids Hall of Fame. This is a project that further supports all kids who became our steemkids celebrity. We host weekly contest for them all to keep them busy and to help them grow their steempowers. The winner here is given a reward of steempower delegation from @ngoenyi, @patjewell and @chiabertrand who have volunteered to sponsor this project. As of today, no kid has received such reward yet because it's not upto a month we started it. At the end of the first month, the winner will receive the award.

• 27 days ago, we started an educational tutorials in the community where we invited tutors from various fields to help educate the kids in all fields of life. We have gotten and started the tutorials and the kids are happily taking part in them. These has helped keep them active and they are also being rewarded for that in pursuance of our vission for them.

You may wonder why we are so numerous? Yes, it boils down to Engagement. We want all publications made in the community to be attended to and just few persons can not be able to cover up, this is the reason for the number you are seeing.

Details Of Our Community Curation Account And Who Holds The Key

Our curation account username is @steemkidss and below is the screenshot of the steemworld page

I started this community by transferring my personal earnings of 1000 steem to the account, I powered up 500 steem and used the rest to run contests. On July ending, I transferred another 1000 steem to be able to take part in spud4steem which the community later won 3rd place and a delegation was given which we used for 3 weeks. That helped us to grow the account.

We also received upvotes from steemcurator01 on some of our publications that helped us grow the steempower.

Members sent their delegations too to help grow the Cumulative steempower and today, we have grown it to 108,761 steempower. as at the time of this application.

We have been consistently powering up our earnings from time to time and that has helped us build our owned steempower to what it is today which is 29,546.38sp. And because of this, we are in club75 despite paying out prizes to contest participants and other expenses like the MODs appreciation awards. The community support program that we won on September 2021 helped us to receive support that helped to boost our steempower because we were powering most of the earnings up.

Members regularly set beneficiary percentage to our community curation account and this has been helpful in growing our steempower.

So in a nutshell, our account is being grown through regular powerups, delegation and beneficiary percentages by the members.

Who Holds The Key?

I am in custody of the keys. However, for the purpose of continuity in case of my absence, I have shared the keys with @benton3. I have also shared the Active key with @alejos7ven for delegation rewards payments. And the posting key is with some MODs who help out in making some updates for the communities.

Details Of The Community's Current Policy For Checking And Commenting On Posts

• Steemkids community has 9 active Moderators. The reason for this is to make sure that every post is not left out without being checked and reviewed. And these MODs are actively taking turns to check publications. They are grouped in 3 on a daily basis.

• Our MODs exclusive post which is where every mod drop all the post links they have commented on in other for the publication to receive support from our curation account after review has been helpful in ensuring that no publication expires without review. This has really proved to be very efficient in keeping track of all mods activities till date and this is week #19 now.

• To crown it all, at the end of each day, I personally check the community to see which post has or has not been checked and I will make sure I distribute to this responsible for the day or I will do it myself in case they are not online. We have been doing this till date.

How Steemkids Community Is Helping It's Members To Make Quality Posts

Each individual user is different from the others and they all in most cases have unique problems in terms of improving the quality of their publications. It is at this background that steemkids community check the individual publications of every member in order to give advice, corrections and suggestions for improvements. Each mod serves the purpose of advising users if they notice they are not making quality posts.

Our daily picks post published daily by the community contains instructions on how to improve the quality of Publications.

In our chat groups in telegram, we equally advice the users from time to time on the need for improvements in the quality of their publications.

We make sure that only quality publications are submitted for booming support.

Why Steemkids Community Should Be Selected For May Engagement Challenge

• Steemkids community already have the custom of checking all publications made in the community before now and we are not going to stop soon

• Kids are going to replace adults tomorrow and as such, they deserve all the best from us and being selected as one of the communities will encourage these kids the more.

• Steemkids community is bobbling forth with publications on a daily basis that are of good quality and as such, these ones deserve to be encouraged.

• Steemkids community has numerous engagement projects like the skids-coner, kids diary contest, food challenge, various tutorials and lessons and others that keep the members active.

• Steemkids community has from inception been in club75 despite being a community account and all because the earnings are not withdrawn for personal reasons only rewards that are deserved are withdrawn. With our continues powerups, we have built our owned steempower to 29,546.40 sp despite being in existence just for 10 months and these has attracted a lot of delegators to the point that we now have a total of 108,761.08 sp. We will do more if given the opportunity.

• We have been actively educating and supporting the kids all around the globe to make steemit a wonderful place for them to blog.

• We only support publications that are steemexclusive and we mute plagiarized contents. We do not even support less quality contents too.

• We run contests regularly with the community account along with the ones organized by some MODs.

I believe that with these points, we are well suited to to be selected for June engagement challenge.
