Gift giving brings lots of excitement on human minds just by the mention of it. Who doesn't want to receive a gift? Who will not be happy to receive the right gift at the right time?

Man and gift are inseparable because it started right from the time man came into this world.

The life we live is a gift from the giver of life

The breath that is sustaining of lives is a gift.

The earth we live in is also a gift.

We also received numerous gifts as a result of our birth by our parents. They took care of us both as obligation and as a part of their display of love and as a result of the gift they like sharing with us of which we are most grateful to them. Some parents decide to remove the fetus in their womb but we are given birth to, what a gift!

What is gift giving?

This is the act of parting with an item we owned without expecting it to be reciprocated. It has to be the right gift, with the right motive and at the right time for it to be valuable and we must not expect anything in return unless the receiver, out of his or her good will decides on his own to reciprocate. Otherwise, a gift should be free.

Parents offering gifts to their children who are dependent on them

A school teacher carefully impacting the needed knowledge to the pupils

An individual or a group of individuals offering gifts to the poor and destitute

An employment opportunities that are offered to someone who is really in need of it.

These situations and more explains the free gifts that can be given without expecting anything in return.

A gift can be material or not, it can be in kind or in words. All that matters is that it feels a need and the receiver is happy with it and the giver doesn't expect anything in return.

Should it just be for a season in a year? Explain

It is good to give gifts at all times. Man always have a need and it grows as we delve more and more into the last of the last days of this system of things. Hence, their must be something we can do for someone at any point in time without reserving it for a special season or moments. We just need to figure out who needs what if we are the gifting type.

Giving occasional gifts are also good because the occasion creates the need.

Name other opportunities that one can exchange gifts

Wedding day gifting

Weddings present good opportunities to part with gifts. The couple who has spent a lot to be united together needs to start life on a smooth rides. Our gift can give them that smooth ride they need.

They are also in most cases be on a honey moon and may need no distractions at all but just to enjoy life. Our gifts can go a long way to give them all the happiness they expect.

Marriage anniversary gifting

Gifting during marriage anniversaries is also a beautiful thing. I have once been a recipient of that from my dear friends. In this side of the world though, gifting during that time is rare but I have come to find out that it all depends on where you are at any point in time and the people that surrounds you at any point in time.

Graduation gifting

Graduation of someone from their various works of learning deserves to be appreciated because much has been spent and as such, we can show our appreciation.

Gifting when a child is born

When a child is born, it gives joy and happiness. However, the parents who have received this gift also will have to shoulder so many responsibilities. Our gifts can assist them shoulder these responsibilities in love.

Gifting for appreciation of whatever thing one has done for us

Our hearts might well in appreciation for what has been done for us especially when we feel we don't deserve it of when the gift is valuable and at the right time. It is just natural that we feel obligated to reciprocate that gift in love not in competition.

What are proper items that can be exchanged as gifts

Anything that anyone we intend to gift needs at any point in time that we are Willing to offer the gift.

It can vary from person to person and from one situation to another.

It can also be determined by a person's status in life and whether the person is the gifting type.

The occasion as well has a role to play in the items that can be given.

It could be but not limited to the following

Car, kitchen utensils, house, clothing, employment, wills and so on.

What should be the right motive for gift giving

Gifting without expecting anything in return is the right motive for gift giving.

Gifting from the heart and not in comparison of competition with the others.

Who is qualified to give gifts?

All men and women including children of goodwill can part with gifts. It doesn't matter where you are, what you do and who is around you. So long as one is alive, there must be something you can part with especially as gifts must not be expensive to be a gift.

How should the giver and the receiver feel about the act of giving

Because the right gift is given at the right time, and with the right motive, it naturally results in happiness to the both parties involved, the giver and the receiver.

They both will experience what the scriptures said that there is more happiness in giving than there is in receiving. That means that the giver will even be more happy than the receives. This is beautiful
