Sunset Spot – The beaches of South Africa

I have always wonder which is the most beautiful, sunrise or sunsets.
I suppose in the end they each have their own beauty and special meaning.
For me sunset marks that end, the closure of a day. That time of the day where you can become quite and look back at your day and say thank you to your Maker. It is also a reminder that although the day is nearly at its end there is always a new tomorrow which hold a new promise.
What amaze me is that no matter where you are, the beach, the country side, a village or a city there is always a beautiful sunset. All we need to do is to take the time to notice it and to follow the sun… wherever it leads.
Sunset on a beach is extra special. It is almost as if it last longer, the beauty seems uninterrupted and the colours are not to be found on a colour pallet.
Today I want to share some of the top beach sunset spots of South Africa.
With the long seashore of South Africa there are literally hundreds of spots from where to watch the sunset in the west.
I have chosen three of my tops spots to share with you today;

Our first stop is at Bloubergstrand a suburb of the Mother City of South Africa, Cape Town .
Blou (blue), berg (mountain) and strand (Beach), “Blue Mountain Beach” is to be found just north of Cape Town.
South Africans gets together in the late afternoon on this beautiful shoreline not only to windsurf but to enjoy the spectacular sunset.
If you don’t want to take a walk on the beach the grass embankment of the Blue Peter Hotel is just this place for you. Here you will meet with friends to enjoy the best pizza in Cape Town, a cold beer and the sunset. Make sure your go early or you will not get a spot to sit.
Depending on the time of the year you might even be able to take a photo of the sunset and include the majestic Table Mountain south of Bloubergstrand.

A must visit spot which should be on the bucket list of all tourist coming to South Africa.

The next sunset spot I want to share with you is of the little town of Wilderness along the Garden Route . The Garden Route is the scenic route south east from Cape Town in the Western Cape Province and is well visited by tourists.
You can either take a tour of the Garden Route or rent a car and travel the route by yourself.
The beautiful Wilderness is nestle in the foothills of the Outeniqua Mountains and is well known for its lakes, rivers and long stretch beach. A haven for fishermen, holiday makers and tourists.
It is not strange to find ample photographers setting up their cameras to capture the beauty of the sunsets. Some will be lucky to capture a whale playing in the water with the sunset in the background. It might be a long wait but absolutely worth it.

The last sunset spot is my favourite, Keurboomstrand which is also situated on the Garden Route near the town of Plettenberg Bay.
I have seen and captured the most spectacular sunsets on this beach. What makes this spot so unique is that it is still unspoiled as not a lot of people know about Keurboomstrand. With every photo you take you not only capture the beauty of nature but also the tranquility of the area around it.
Keurboomstrand is especially enjoyed by families. While mom and dad is enjoying the sunset the children is playing on the long open beach. These sunset outings often ends up with bonfires, guitars and singing on the beach.
I am sharing some unique photos with you today. What makes these photos so special is that it captures the sunset of not one sun but two suns.

South Africa is also well known for its red sunsets. The best times to capture these magnificent sunsets are normally in autumn (March to May) or with spring (September to November).
The last photo I want to share with you is a red sunset over the town of Plettenberg Bay and Robberg Peninsula taken from Keurboomstrand.
