A quiet week in the Top 20.
Just a couple of shuffles in the lower rankings.
New witnesses continue to arrive - myself being among this week's newcomers.
In the wider witness world the big news this week is the announcement by Steemit Inc of the $500K Development Incentive Program that will be managed by five of the top witnesses.
Pennsif the Witness
After almost 2000 days on Steem I decided it was time to take my contribution to the platform to the next level.
I have therefore set up as a Steem witness... @pennsif.witness

The Current Top 20 Witnesses
There has been very little movement in the Top 20 this past week.
@justyy still holds the top spot, and the only changes have been @boylikegirl.wit dropping down a couple of places to #19, and @bangla.witness and @marcosdk each moving up one slot.
@cotina has just managed to overtake @alexmove.witness to claim the first reserve position at #21.
The current top 20 witnesses for the Steem Blockchain on 4 October 2022 are :

There are a further 30 or so active backup witnesses mainly in the #21 - #50+ slots.
All top 50+ witnesses are running the current 0.23.1 version.
Many of the witnesses from #55 and below are 'former' witnesses that are running old witness versions (0.23.0 or 0.22.1) and have now moved to another blockchain.

The listing in Steemworld.org has the added feature of showing who is voting for each witness (click on the little piechart icon).
@steem.history and @future.witness both publish daily witness listings...
New Witnesses
Two new witnesses have launched this week - @pennsif.witness (mentioned above) and @yasu from Japan.
@yasu.witness has not entered the top 250 yet, but you can still vote for him on SteemitWallet.com...

Steemit Development Incentive Program
Steemit Inc has announced the full details of the new Development Incentive Program.
$500,000 worth of STEEM tokens per year is being made available to support community-led development projects on steemit.com.
The program is being overseen by a team of five top witnesses - @future.witness (@hightouch), @steemchiller, @justyy, @smt-wherein (@iguazi123) and @dev.supporters (@donekim, @glory7 & @wonsama).
These five Community Developer Representatives will receive 10% of the budget between them for running the program.
The community is invited to submit their ideas and suggestions for improvements as comments, or full posts, by 15 October...

Top witness @justyy (#1) continues to make regular posts on various technical topics...
@symbionts (#2) has submitted a proposal to the Steem Development Incentive Program to add a delegation facility to steemitwallet.com...
@steemchiller (#4) continues to maintain the top app on the blockchain in the form of Steemworld.org.
@steem.history (#5) puts out a number of very useful daily posts covering witness listings, Steem Power rankings and the STEEM system config.
@upvu.witness (#11) publishes a daily list of which witnesses it is supporting with the massive @upvu.proxy vote (30M SP)...
@upvu has made a number of posts giving more information about how it selects the witnesses it supports...
@etainclub (#14) continues to work on the development of his AVLE app which is now in public beta...
@italygame (#15) puts out regular weekly updates about their various activities, including maintaining the Steem Fanbase auto-voting service...
WOX-HELPFUND, from the World of @xpilar (#16), has donated 400 STEEM to community member @eglis to assist with medical expenses during her pregnancy...
@bangla.witness (#17) has posted more about its current activities and future plans.
They are currently running a number of projects such as Abuse Watcher, and also developing applications such as Steemit.blog and Steempro.com...
@steemit-market (#20) has published its 6th witness report...
@cotina (#21) has published its weekly community and witness report...
@alexmove.witness (#21) continues to make daily posts for his Users Activity Rank Club...
He has also published his latest witness report...
@stmpak.wit (#49) has given their first charitable donation - more than 50 STEEM's worth of groceries to a widow whose husband died three years ago...
The world of Steem witnesses continues to be very bouyant.
The arrival of the Steemit Development Incentive Program looks like it will bring on a new phase of growth on the platform.

Currently @pennsif.witness is at position 66, and hopefully can feel in the top 10. With full support from Stemians, it is possible to be in the top 10 and I hope so.
