It is Called Golden Tortoise Beetle!

Sunday was a very busy day, as Harith visited our place to do some work with me. He was very concentrated on the task but really I am not that kind of person. So from time to time, I went here and there to get rid of boredom due to sitting in the same place.

Meanwhile, I notice an insect floating on my dog's water bowl. The insect was like a sequin so it suddenly got my attention. It was so golden in color, which is very shiny. First of all, I took him out from the water and kept on my figure.

He had a brownish transparent circular cover on top of his beetle body. Under that his golden boy placed. With the transparent cover, it looked so elegant as it enhanced its gold cover. I realized that my idea about the transparent cover is wrong after seeing him fly. It is not a shell kind of cover, it can split with his wings. It s an amazing creature.

Honestly, it is my first time seeing this kind of beetle so I was curious to find its name. After a simple search with Google Lens, I was able to find his name as "Golden Tortoise Beetle"

It says these beetles are changing color when disturbed. Golden color when they are calm and brownish orange color when they are disturbed. Also, resources say their diet is completely dependent on leaves of "Morning glory". I am sure there are no morning glory plants in our garden, but probably there can be in neighbor gardens.

After all, I placed him on a flower and let him to fly away!
