How to SaveOurFuture 8 OF 26: Real Journalism does not cowtow, and puts lies under a Magnifying glass

The key to liberty and justice for all under a democracy, is a strong fourth estate.
Yes News Media: newspapers, and news shows on media both over the air and the internet.

Please note when I refer to journalism I am referring to news bureaus that vet their articles on real verifiable facts, get and give supported sources. While important not a pundits on the radio or blog post spinning their point of view.

I am not a professional journalist . My Blogging information while using Journalistic principles of verifying and vetting, are clouded!

This reporting is affected by my non-party affiliated centrist viewpoint, my experiences over my lifetime, my learning and personal history. That being said, on with my observations.

Stifling the fourth estate , with a kill the messenger attacks, erodes our peoples faith in democracy and institution.

It's not because our institutions are perfectly un-corruptable. It's because with out the light of oversight and knowledge the temptation by anyone with power can be a corrupting influence.

And no matter what anyone will say there is one thing that every citizen (no matter what the position) if they are elected to office they have some power. From local zoning boards and dog catchers to Elected Judges, Legislators to the President, every single one can abuse the office.

I AM SURE THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE RUNNING FOR ANY POSITION JUST WANT TO DO GOOD

Unfortunately what might be good some could bad for others, and over time a detachment from an electorate, with the hubris of wanting to keep control, has a corrupting influence. And then of course there are people who do not wish to do good.

And if you can hide your abuse of power because no one can see it, it becomes to much of a temptation!

Today was a prime example of a huge attempt by the person in the White House again going to the mats with huge negative, racist based, evil extreme Rhetoric. Thus giving the old saying Bully Pulpit a whole new meaning.

The Lies in tonite's Presidential Address were leaked by the Trump himself prior to the speech, to a group of anchormen off the record.

But the reporters had been burned previously
And networks did not think they should give free partisan campaign time to person trying to make up a fake emergency, supported by a whole host of Lies....

As such I applaud what MSNBC,CNN, The Wall Street Journal, Fox News, The New York Times did....It was amazing....

1. Prior to the speech and after they had Republican and Democrat Politicians, and Journalists from multiple companies weigh in on the Lies. and give real facts before and after.
   And during Mr. Trump's lie filled appearance instead of interrupting MSNBC placed a disclaimer on the screen.
   

2. And immediately after All the networks allowed the Shumer and Pelozi to point out that Trump alone is causing stress and financial problems to millions of Americans with this shutdown.

1. Business Insider found out prior to the speech that Trump was actually using the speech to fleece his supporters:

3. The Washington Post real time fact checked and showed these items:

   Democrats had supported a fence at the border

   ‘266,000 aliens arrested in the past two years’: The number is right but misleading.
   because includes nonviolent offenses such as illegal entry or reentry.

   The trade deal does not pay for the wall
   9:03 PM
   Most imported heroin comes through legal points of entry
   majority of Overdoes are from Doctor Prescribed Opiods
   9:02 PM
   There is no new crisis at the border
   8:58 PM
   Many of Trump’s false claims have been about immigration

4. Immediately After the speech President Trump's campaign team sent out another fund raising letter that made it sound like the donation was going to building a wall, but was actually going into the reelection campaign fund. This was brought up on Lawrence O'donnels Show on MSNBC, thus proving that it was not a real emergency.
   Essentially another Trumped up lie.....

Now the big problem here is that Trump is still beholden to Putin.

But Journalism is rising to the occasion:

7) the New York Times today came out with this:
" As a top official in President Trump’s campaign, Paul Manafort shared political polling data with a business associate tied to Russian intelligence, according to a court filing unsealed on Tuesday. The document provided the clearest evidence to date that the Trump campaign may have tried to coordinate with Russians during the 2016 presidential race.
Mr. Manafort’s lawyers made the disclosure by accident, through a formatting error in a document filed to respond to charges that he had lied to prosecutors working for the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, after agreeing to cooperate with their investigation into Russian interference in the election. " .

8) Even Fox News is putting out truth (even though they follow it up with spin) .
"Russian attorney Natalia Veselnitskaya, who was at the center of a controversial 2016 Trump Tower meeting, was charged in federal court on Tuesday with obstruction of justice in connection to a civil money laundering and forfeiture case involving a Russian tax refund fraud scheme, first uncovered by the late Sergei Magnitsky.

Veselnitskaya represented Cyprus-based real estate holdings company Prevezon Holdings, in a money laundering lawsuit brought by the Justice Department in 2013. In the case, the government sought to prove that Veselnitskaya’s clients had received and laundered a portion of the proceeds of a Russian tax refund fraud scheme involving corrupt Russian officials..
