Motorola creates amazing smartphones throughout the year. But all smartphones are not about being special. Some are about finding the balance between numbers and features. The Motorola Edge 40 is a recently launched smartphone and I think it's well balanced one.

Starting with the design, the Motorola Edge 40 features a premium build quality. It has a glass front, an aluminum frame, and a plastic or eco-leather back, depending on the color variant. The device weighs around 167 grams or 171 grams, depending on the color variant. The smartphone feels sleek and comfortable to hold.

The Edge 40 comes with a 6.55-inch P-OLED display that offers 1080P resolution. The display delivers vibrant and sharp visuals, thanks to its high pixel density of 402 ppi. With HDR10+ support and a peak brightness of 1200 nits, you can expect a good viewing experience. Additionally, the display boasts a 144Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth and fluid scrolling and animations. Refresh rate can be changed between 144Hz, 120Hz, 90Hz and 60Hz which helps in saving battery.

Under the hood, the Motorola Edge 40 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8020 chipset, built on a 6nm architecture. Overall processor and GPU combination provides smooth multitasking and handles demanding applications with ease. In terms of memory and storage, the Edge 40 offers two options: 8GB of RAM with either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. It utilizes the fast UFS 3.1 but not the fastest. Unfortunately, there is no option for expandable storage via a MicroSD card.

The camera system on the Motorola Edge 40 is quite simple and impressive. On the rear, it features only a dual-camera setup, including a 50MP wide lens with multi-directional PDAF and OIS. It also incorporates a 13MP ultrawide lens with a 120˚ field of view, enabling you to capture a wider perspective. It also has AutoFocus so it can capture Macro Images. For selfie enthusiasts, there is a 32MP front-facing camera that captures high-quality selfies.

Audio on the Edge 40 is delivered through stereo speakers, providing a good audio experience. However, the device does not include a 3.5mm headphone jack, so you will need to use wireless headphones or a USB Type-C adapter for wired audio connectivity.

The smartphone runs on Android 13, offering a clean and user-friendly interface. It includes a fingerprint sensor under the display for secure unlocking . The Motorola Edge 40 is backed by a 4400 mAh non-removable Li-Po battery, which is enough for long-lasting usage. It supports 68W wired charging, enabling quick top up the battery, and 15W wireless charging which is rare at this price.

As for the pricing, the Motorola Edge 40 is priced at $699. For that price, the Motorola Edge 40 is a feature-packed smartphone that delivers a premium experience. Overall, the Edge 40 offers excellent value for its price and is a solid choice for those seeking a high-performance and stylish smartphone.
