The Israeli company Elbit Systems has presented a system that will use augmented reality on their ARCAS assault rifles.

The system shows soldiers information about the combat situation, including sources of fire and ammunition levels.

The layers of information can be controlled using the joystick on the front handle of the gun.

Weapon developers are now offering various ways to raise awareness of the military and improve their combat capability.

For example, Hanwha Systems is developing an individual battlefield visualization system for the South Korean military.

It will connect the soldiers' weapon sights with their smartphones, walkie-talkies and tactical communications.

This will allow the military to receive and share data on the combat situation in real time.

Now Elbit Systems has developed an artificial intelligence system for ARCAS guns for the same purpose. The company unveiled it at the DSEI international arms show in London.

ARCAS is a microcomputer that is built into a rifle and transmits information about the combat situation to an electronic optical sight or to an eyepiece mounted on a soldier's helmet.

The microcomputer receives and processes data from the sight, command and control systems, other ARCAS users and the gun itself.

Soldiers see information about the combat situation, including sources of fire and ammunition levels, in augmented reality and control it using the joystick on the front grip of the weapon.

The system also has other features such as ballistic correction, video recording and target recognition.

Elbit Systems CEO Ari Chernobrov says ARCAS looks like a video game. The company developed it not only for special services, but also for ordinary infantrymen.

According to Elbit Systems, about 80% of infantry soldiers in the world today do not have modern scopes on their weapons.
