Kraken's response to the NY AG's inquiry is so tone-deaf and disingenuous that it would take a complete moron to believe there is anything legitimate about this exchange or the practices it engages in.

In #1, they state, "The deadline of 2 weeks is unreasonable given the scope."
Really? To provide information about the ownership and exchange policies?
It didn't ask for documentation on anything except for the times when there were outages. An intern could do this in a day
In #2, they accuse the NYAG of attempting a "publicity stunt". Apart from being the dumbest shit I've ever heard of in my life, this makes zero sense.

In addition to that, #2 speaks on the, "inclusion of exchanges which are clearly outside of the AG's jurisdiction" which is also false because Kraken did business in NY (admitted by Jesse) and more than likely still has those NY customers, which puts it under AG purview.

In #3, Jesse calls it a 'fishing expedition', which is a difficult, if not impossible argument to make given the fact that there are specific questions the AG asks which do not ask for confidential records. At all.
#4 The NYDFS does not = NY AG
This is an entirely diff league, and exchange information from 2014 when the exchange was FIRST INCEPTED cannot be considered relevant in 2018 (4 years later) lol.

Also, this would not be given to the public - it goes to the AG....
What Jesse states in #8 is a reiteration of #7. Literally. Once again - this information would be collected by the New York Attorney General... not some tabloid magazine.
What Jesse wrote for #9 makes zero sense either.
#10 just reads like an impotent child throwing a temper tantrum by insulting the NY AG by demanding "compensation for the 'professional consulting work'", which I guess he was conveying he felt the inquiry amounted to.

Exchange security is 5 layers.
- Undisclosed encrypted email address with a solid unique password and app based 2FA.
- Solid unique password for exchange.
- 2FA, preferably app based not text based, on a device you can't access your exchange account from.
- Whitelisted IP address using a static IP through VPN.
- Don't use an exchange for storage - this is to prevent exchange hacks or exit scams impacting you.
Security is about personal responsibility. Of the first 4 factors, your friend shared the info on all 4 of them.
Targeting 2FA/authenticator as the issue is passing the ball. Security was his responsibility. If he had properly handled even 1 of the first 4, he'd have been perfectly fine.
If you wanted to raise concerns about Authenticator having actual security issues, like why they use SHA-1 even after SHA-1 has had collisions, that's an actual discussion on security issues (And the answer to that is they use HMAC SHA-1, not straight SHA-1, so there is no risk)
Even 1 of the first 4 layers handled properly and he'd have been fine.

Hello all, would like to ask what's your laddering strategy when scalping and how does your plan vary depending on the coins volatility?
In long positions -
I would put in 5% of my pot at the beginning and if it drops 0.3% then I would enter another 5%.
If it drops another 0.4% then I would enter 10% of my pot.
If it drops another 0.6% then I would enter another 15% of my pot and so on. As you can see its done exponentially.
I have been experimenting different numbers to generate an optimal outcome but I would also like to hear how you strategies your laddering.

This is one of my concerns with most projects/coins. Some raised a ton at ICO so if developers aren’t greedy they can float for quite a while and keep things going on development. Many likely can’t and will shut things down in my opinion. Or will shut down and just start a new ICO with similar idea and raise a ton more money and repeat the same thing. I’m not sure how many are truly trying to make functional products out of the 2,000 or so “companies”. And another reason I trust technicals far more than fundamentals in crypto. We have no access to fundamentals info in this space

If any of us are traveling to another country today, think about how we exchange our fiat to the local currency. We exchange, for example, USD to Euro, either at our local bank before we leave America, or we take money out of a local ATM in Europe.
Unfortunately, there are fees associated with doing either of these things.
Is there a coin or company developing a way to do something like: log in to a dapp, transfer USD to ETH and then to Euro. Then, that Euro is in our account, and we can withdraw funds from local ATMs without fees in the local country.

This post started as a reply to another thread, but I reckon it deserves a post of it's own - basically, me on a soap box, airing my scattered thoughts...
So, if massive institutional money comes rolling in, the big whales, what could happen?
My take is:
Bye bye the very idea of crypto as it was envisioned, when that 'big institutional money' starts rolling in, the markets will be manipulated even more, regulated of course
This isn't the adoption we want in any shape or form. Yep, it may be possible to attempt to ride choppy waves on the coattails of these whales, but they'll win every time.
The adoption we want is ordinary people being able to freely trade without a middle man - no banks, no institutions - just free trade.

Have we seen the next big idea yet to catalyze the next run? By big, I mean equivalent to exchanges, the first altcoins and Ethereum.

I’m of the belief that these last few bubbles didn’t happen by accident or were inevitable, but were sparked by big ideas that set the next big wave in motion.
In my mind there were several in the past. Exchanges and an explosion of altcoins that were mostly just currencies were a relatively new thing that fueled the fire for the 2013 bubble.
The most recent bubble was almost entirely due to Ethereum, tokenization, platforms, etc - which completely redefined what crypto could be. Like in retrospect, the bear market basically turned around the day the Ethereum was released. Even if the DAO was a failure, it was a huge new idea. And far from just a currency crypto could now be a platform or token for anything, and huge amounts of money could be raised based on nothing but hype and a paper.
