A Winter visit to a friend in the Mountains.

For one who loves flowers it’s hard to believe there is beauty in this land which appears cold, lifeless and empty from the air....

As you fly into the mountain airport, at first it’s so strange with no greenery, no color, no flowers and no ocean. But as you study the scenery from the air you begin to appreciate its beauty. The sharp mountain peaks and the bowl like craters are very wonderful to behold. They have their own beauty, which is different from Hawaii, but still very nice. The emptiness of the cold still air looks like it’s filled with calm and serenity.

The first day I went exploring in the snow and I found living green things!
Here in the strange, white, cold beauty of this land there are hearty green trees which survive this frigid climate...

And even the trees without leaves and who look barren are strangely pretty in their newness to me. But perhaps it was the strong and majestic mountain, which lent some of its beauty to the trees which made them seem pretty?

But then I found trees which had shed their clothing made of leaves and traded it for this strange “white fur” called SNOW

Later me friend invited us to take part in a cool tradition in these snowy areas, it’s called making snow angels.
We lay down in the snow with our arms and legs stretched as far as they can and then we flap our arms and legs like wings 3-4 times. Then we very carefully get up and look at the impression we leave in the snow.

Then my eyes enjoyed a special treat: a sunset over a white covered mountain. It was beautiful, but as the sun went down, so did the temperature. As the temperature plunged, my teeth chattered in a strange way, as never before. So I bid the sunset goodbye and I retreated indoors....

So as darkness approaches, I flee this place, but not before leaving footprints in the snow!
Which was fun but oh so cold!
This felt quite different from leaving my footprints in the sand!
My toes may never forgive me! 🤣😂🤣
