WHAT ARE THE KEYS TO CRYPTOCURRENCY BLOCKCHAIN?
As we all know in general, keys are certain designed objects that give us access to either open or close a lock. but in cryptocurrency, Keys are said to be an encrypted wallet that is used to access our crypto assets. the reason why these keys are introduced to the system is to help or assist the user by safeguarding their basic crypto assets.
Without these basic keys, our crypto assets are not sure of safety as though they can be jeopardized by anybody, without these keys anyone could have assessed our crypto assets and that can be a thorn in the flesh for users. these keys help users to be self-confident and have no phobia concerning their assets as though it is well protected.
Unlike other application keys, the security keys that exist on the cryptocurrency blockchain are so strong and reliable, and as such, it is very difficult to be hacked. these keys also are one of the benefits of a decentralized system as though it can only be used by the owner. also, these keys only function to the wallet it represents or is assigned to. for instance, my posting key is quite different from other users' posting key here on the steemit platform, my Tron key is quite different from that of other users' Tron key and that is why it is decentralized and reliable to trust.
Also, online on other applications or platforms, the cryptocurrency blockchain keys are mixed with alphabets and numbers, and it comprises of both uppercase and lowercase, and as such it is quite difficult to be compromised if kept well. with these few points, I hope we all understood this explanation concerning keys in the cryptocurrency blockchain.
WHAT ARE THE FUNCTIONS OF THESE KEYS?
There are basic functions in which these keys perform in the cryptocurrency blockchain and I will only be highlighting the basics among them all, so the basic functions of these keys are as follows.
It grants access to our crypto assets that are located in our wallet. without these keys, we as users can not have access to our digital currencies in our wallet, so we need these keys to gain access to our digital assets that are kept in our wallet, and as such it does not authorize any other person except the owner of the wallet who owns these keys and note even as the owner of the wallet, you can only gain access to your crypto assets in your wallet only when you have the keys in your possession or else, you will also be regarded as a third party.
It gives security to our crypto assets in our wallet. These keys are responsible for safeguarding our assets in our wallets, and that is why they are called keys. they provided maximum security in other to protect our assets in our wallet from a third party, and so transactions can only be carried out by the owner of the wallet in question.
It also grants access to transactions. The keys also give you as a user to go ahead when you want to make a transfer operation or a withdrawal operation, so as such it always requests for a private key to make sure it is not in a jeopardized operation. Just like the Tronlink wallet key, after signing in, it requires your private key to authorize a transfer or withdrawal transaction. so before one can transfer or withdraw a crypto asset, you will be asked for either a private key or a password, that is why it is called a private key because it only gives the user access to these operations.
BASIC WAYS TO STORE AND SECURE YOUR KEYS
There are several ways in which a user can store his/her keys in a proper manner that can be accessed at any point in time. with these ways, one rests assured of protecting and safeguarding his or her keys. note that the job of your keys is to safeguard your crypto assets in your wallet and your job as a user is to safeguard your keys. your keys can not save themselves, so it is expected that as a user, you make sure of keeping your keys in the right manner. some ways in which we can secure our keys are as follow.
1 - Cloud Storage - This should be the number of storage locations every blockchain user is expected to think of. storing your keys in the cloud is very essential. do you know why? the cloud helps us to get our key whenever, wherever, and however. this was the mistake I made, one I, first of all, began steemit, I never saved my keys on the cloud and then my phone got lost, so automatically my keys were gone and I hated myself for that mistake. this is advice to everyone here, please if you are yet to save your keys using cloud storage, I strongly suggest you do so. with cloud storage, you are at peace, because should in case of eventuality your phone or device got spoilt, stolen, or even beyond repair, you rest assured that your keys can be accessed when you want them anytime.
2 - Written note storage . This is another method of securing your keys. writing them down is quite essential because you can always come back and find them whenever you need them. writing them down in your diary, book, or on a paper as the case may be and keeping them in a particular area where you can always come back and locate them is a good one.
3 - Backup your keys. Keys backup is also a great idea. It is a device medium that is developed to store your keys, the backup helps to retrieve, safeguard and manage information and data. so it is also a good way of storing your keys with the help of the backup storage device.
4 - The Storage Drive. The storage drive is also a good method of keeping your key safe, it is considered an external device that helps to secure information and data, as the case may be. a flash drive is in this category, we can use the flash drive to store information and data that are to be kept properly and so we can as well use it to safeguard our keys.
CONCLUSION
It is very essential to properly save all your keys wisely, especially your steemit and cryptocurrency wallet key. the reason for this article is to educate all newcomers and the old users who are yet to save and store their keys properly to please do so. even though it is part of the achievement post that newcomers are expected to do, most users only perform the task but do not do as the task says.
I lost the keys to my previous account, and that was what led me to open this current account, this is indeed a true life experience, to prove that I was a victim of this incident, here is my previous account @Dahsolex. you can check the activities and you will find out that it has been dormant for so long, it was as a result of my negligence, not securing my keys properly and that is why I can not have access to it again, likewise, any user who fails to safe his or her keys vehemently. so I strongly advise that we save our key properly to avoid further eventualities like losing our crypto assets, funds, and a lot more.
