DO KIDS HAVE A RIGHT TO CHOOSE THEIR DESTINY?

in #family5 years ago

Or are they a tool for realising parental dreams and plans?

Do they have a right to choose?

Or they should obey to parents because they are adults and know better (as they think?)

I was impressed by one life story some days ago and was thinking of it much, so I share it with you, friends.

It's a family of Eugeniy Pluschenko - a famous Russian figure skater, an Olympic champion.
He has a wife (a famous Russian music producer) and a son.

They boy is only 4, but he isn't a child already..

Look at this face.

Do you see carelessness and ease of childhood?

There're 2 reasons.

1. He lives a life of an adult.

He is involved in many kinds of adult activities (photosessions, exhibitions, fashion shows etc).

He is a main character of his own Instagram page.
Parents (who are very rich people) earn huge money on their son!
He visits numerous classes and lessons!!! (I counted at least 5 of them).
He has almost no free time at all.
Just a couple of free hours in the evening. All the rest time he is extremely busy.

BUT the main reason is

different

2. He is meant to be a champion like his father.

In that very sport - figure skating.
He is meant to be an Olympic champion.
Already. By his parents.
Every day the boy MUST train on the ice during 2-3 hours learning new skills.

He just MUST win the Olympic games. MAybe not once.

The parents don't hide their plans.
He MUST. That's it.

Why? Whom? For what?

Does the boy like it?
Does he like ice and skating in general??
I think nobody asked him..

His parents are proud of a story that shocked me.

Once the boy hurted his leg on the ice and he was crying. He was tired. He was exhausted. He wanted to go home.
and he said: I wanna just play and rest!

He was punished. He didn't het any cartoons or toys that evening.
The next morning he said Sorry and continued trainings...

And the parents were proud he made this decision!

Decision??
Maybe intimidation and blackmail??

I was so sorry for this small boy...

And the main detail is - his father, the champion, was brought up in the same manner.

So what is it?

subliminal offense and revenge?
the belief that this is the only right way of upbringing?
fears and complexes?
fear of not being the best and the desire to prolong the feeling of victory at the expense of the son?
authoritarianism and totalitarianism?

or just stupidness?...

What do you think, friends?

Do parents have a right to choose a destiny to their kids in such a way?

Sort:

Меня потресла история. Судя с отсутствия улыбки на всех фото, особого счастья мальчик не испытывает.

вот-вот.

Some people wants to go with the legacy that they have received and accordingly started to teach the kids from childhood.
But i belive every human have their own sense of living their life. Parents need to take care of growing the child and watch out their interest. Once they knew about the kids interest they must do take care of it and help them to nurture properly and help them to make a good human being
