Market Friday Downtown Milford

This is a post for Market Friday hosted by @dswigle, if you haven't followed her yet you should she is one of the kindest and most supportive people here on Steemit, a comment from her is like a ray of sunshine on your page.
This is the one tag and daily challenge that I always make a point of joining, and also look through the posts of others that join the challenge and seeing markets from all around the world.

For this weeks post I will share some shots of shots in Downtown Milford where I live, I took these shots before the Memorial Day parade, with the road closed to vehicles and the parking spots cleared, it gave me a chance to get shots of them without vehicles in view which was a nice change.

Starting with a shot of the strip of shots I will focus on, most days at this time all of those parking spots would be full and there would be a regular flow of vehicles going by.

This next shot is of Bistro Basque, which serves a good variety of Tapas, everythign i have tried there has been cooked to perfection, and mY wife lived for many years in Spain and said the taste is very autthentic.

And here we have Los Cabos, I havent eaten in this new place for them but they serve mexican style food and I have heard good reviews about them, they started in a small coner place and clearly did pretty well as they were able to move into this larger location.

And next is the Canvas Patch, a cool little shop with all kinds of things in there, has been there for a long time from what I understand and always seems to get a good number of visitors in there, I always see a regular flow of people going in there.

And from one of the oldest shops on the strip to one of the newest, Inpopnito, with all kinds of popcorn, now I hope I don't get blocked by anyone for saying this but I have never been a fan of Popcorn, and my Wife has to be careful what she eats so we haven't tried anything from there yet, but our grandkids do like popcorn, so no doubt when they visit next I will take them in to get what they want and to see what it is like in there.

Nice to see an old style high street making a comeback. Our high streets are failing due to high rents and taxes plus competition from online sales.

I take your point about the popcorn place especially with young kids. My granddaughter ate a bag of it when she was about three years old and it bunged her up. She was in agony trying to pass it?

Is that an over share? 😂😂

First off no not an over share just the facts

But that Makes me decide if we go there it ill be on the last day before they he’d home so any issues with it wont be my issue lOL

YEs this Street is maintaining its old England charm unlike other strip malls inthe area

Haha sounds like an excellent plan. We had better stop mentioning pop - corn as a precaution. :-)

There have been various plans to reopen some of the high streets but all failed so far. We are pretty lucky with our local town market. It's still going strong but the rents and rates are killing off many stores.

The increased costs to run a store including rent and utilities and the challenges of the big online markets are really hitting small business hard, I see so many closed shops in strip malls and around places is a sad sight to see
and I will be PC and not Mention P** C***

Same here all the big out of town malls are dying a death as people no longer want to drive out of town to visit these big malls. Many shops are shut down and others are trying to get their act together onlne.

and I will be PC and not Mention P** C***

Haha I had to think what P** C*** was for a moment almost pmsl

Another pattern I am seeing here when the big stores close in malls a lot are being taken over by fitness centers and gyms,

LOL sorry if I confused you with that LLOL

This article is much more personal today about you djay. I learned you have a wife and grandkids!

Always a pleasure to hear about your life via your words and pics.

I wonder how that happened I generally talk just about my photos but every now and again a photo or a post will suddenly open me up to talk about personal things, its not something I comfortably do but every now and again it does slip into one of my posts

We all like it when it happens!

I am trying to be more open with what I say but I am kind of a shy quiet person fir the most part

Los Cabos would probably be a regular of ours if @mrsbozz and I lived there. We have a little Mexican place near us that we visit quite frequently. The Basque place sounds interesting. Spain is one of the places I would really love to visit some day. No offense to the UK friends I have met here, but if I only got to choose one of those two to visit, I would for sure choose Spain :)

I ate there once in the small place they had previously and the food was great so I think you both would like it, My Wife is British but lived in Spain for many years before meeting me and moving to Bosnia and then here, and she would say you are making the right pick to go to Spain before the UK

Good to know!
