Feathered Friday and My Actifit Report Card: August 23 2019

Feathered Friday a young Hawk

This is a post for Feathered Friday Hosted originally by @keithboone, but now hosted by @melinda010100 and I will share a few more shots of the Hawk I saw a while back in the gardens by the office.

Normally my evening posts are an actifit post with shots taken on my phone, but today I was working from home and doing things around the house and was far from active, the weather is partly to blame I was awake at around 5AM and considered heading out for my morning walk, but it was raining, and supposedly stopping by %, so I waited till 5:30, Still raining, and kept checking but it was still raining at midday as I am preparing this post, so I am not going to get near tot he 5K minimum for an actifit post or my daily goal of 77500 Steps I think so preparing this post instead, but its good to have a rest day now and again I think I have done over 10K steps every day for over 3 weeks now.

OK now to the Hawk in the gardens, I went out to get some shots of flowers in the rose garden and saw a woman looking intently at a light pole, so, me, being the nosy person I am I had to take a look and see myself and I am glad I did as this is what I saw

The funny thing is as I came down tot he gardens this morning id had been raining till a little while before and I was kind of annoyed I had not brought my Macro lens in for shots of the roses and water drops, but fate was kind to me with my longer lens being that I had with me being the best ones for shots of this beauty

And this shot shows it cleaning itself which it was doing while I was watching it and taking these shots, from my last post with shot sof itpeople told me this is most likely a young Hawk and hence why it stopped in the gardens

Now it posed nicely for me for quite a few shots between cleaning itself, but it got coy for this last shot, OK not really it is cleaning itself here

I was lucky to get these shots of it, as once I had finished taking these shots I headed upstairs to the office and told my colleagues about it, one went down right away to see it, but it was gone by the time they got downstairs.

NOw I said when I started preparing this post that I wouldn't make the 5K for an actifit post today, but with a visit to a shop to grab some new Cookware to replace some that was getting worn, and a walk around the supermarket I did make it over 5K so this is an actifit post.

And that’s all folks

I was wondering, if you have made more shots of the hawk, when you posted the first photos a while ago, and you had 😉
I can't say, which one of the photos I like most, because they are all super great shots, but maybe the second photo, where it seems, as if the hawk turns his head and looks at you 😊

gidday mate, thanks for your visit, and feedback I looked at them again and I think I have trouble choosing between the first two as my favorites

I hope your weekend has started well

Gidday my friend 😄
All are great, of course the first one is the best, but I prefer the second photo, because he looks like he would think "I can see you..."😎

The weekend started gray, then rain, then sunshine and rain again... now, at 4pm it's gray and I can hear thunder.
For tomorrow they say we will get the same weather as today.
Right now I am in the forest behind my parents house, and try to photograph a bird. I can hear many birds, but I cannot see any 😭

Yeah I do see what you mean with him looking at me, LOL funny thing is he was not bothered at all by me being there or even the camera clicking

Good luck with getting out and tracking down and getting shots of some birds

Good morning JJ,
seems to be the same as with my quite young rabbit, which might not have made any experiences with humans.

It is 6 o'clock in the morning, and today I try wildlife photograpy, once more 😉 Maybe I'll see a deer when it gets brighter 😁
I didn't see any birds yesterday, but I have made a few macros.

yes about the same with the rabbit and the Hawk, good luck with getting some wildlife shots today I hope you get some amazing shots

I have been sitting there on this tree stand for hunters for about 2 hours and didn't see anything, but midges. Maybe it was too wet, because it has been raining nearly all night long, and I have been the only stupid one, who got up early from his warm bed ;) lol
In these two hours I could reply to all comments I have got over night :)

Well that is good multitasking commenting while waiting, so it wasnt a total waste of time, I have all the respect for you that you could wait that long

What a cute bird it is 😍. I live birds of prey and owls. Had them myself but the good days are over. We have some here around too. Always resting on the same spots. I never could make a picture of them. My phone is always empty (the battery is) and the distance is too far to make a nice picture).

On these days I regret I get rid of all my cameras.

Happy weekend to you too. 💕

I to love birds of prey but seldom get shots of them they seem to know I am coming and always fly away LOL

Glad you took the zoom lenses, awesome shots! What a beautiful animal.

It ended up forgetting to change the lens the night before ended up being very fortunate ;)

Oh, the camera gods weren't only kind to you, they were wicked kind to whoever gets to see these magnificent hawk captures! I'm totally jelly of the clarity of the shots - I swear I could reach out at touch this little beauty!

I did a quick Google, and I'm thinking this might be a Red-shouldered Hawk. However, if you're interested in getting confirmation from an expert (as I've done from time to time), you should shout out to someone at Hawk Watch. They've been awesome at ID some of my backyard visitors - this is the link to requesting one...

Oh, and glad to hear your stormy day cleared enough so you could hit your goal!

I was truly lucky to see this one so close in, that very seldom happens to me, I think your right with the type of Hawk, on the previous post a couple of others said it was the same I think

I have adjusted my goal for this week at least to try and get around 7K each day trying to be sensible and many reports say 5 to 7K is the optimum amount, plus this morning my legs were feeling the walking, hoping it is just a bad day but will see tomorrow

Beautiful model, you're really lucky :-)

Ohh yes I was incredibly lucky to see it :) fate smiled on me that day

I'm glad you made the 5K. I'm even happier to see the amazing shots of the Hawk! It took the hawk a bit to become camera shy.

LOL yeah he really wasn't camera shy at all I don't think he was worried about people at all, which is perhaps another indication that he is a young one
