Gapstow bridge
Gapstow bridge
As I have mentioned before I do love visiting Central Park from time to time, its such a beautiful area, and huge, let me tell you a little about it first in case you have never been there
In yesterdays (Wednesday Walk post](https://steemit.com/wednesdaywalk/@tattoodjay/wednesday-walk-and-sbi-giveaway-around-central-park) I mentioned the Gapstow Bridge and for this post, I will share some shots of the bridge itself.
It was opened in 1857, and has about 42 Million visitors a year, it is 2.5 Miles ( 4 kilometers) long and 0.5 Mile(,8 Kilometers) wide and 843 Acres ( 341 Hectares) so you see what I mean when I say it is huge, so often when I visit there before work only have time to visit a small part of it, and although I regularly visit different areas, my Favorite spot is an area called The Pond, which has my favorite bridge that is in the park and what I will be sharing photos of in this post.
And that is Gaptstow bridge
Starting with a shot of it over the pond, the spring colors starting to come out around it and a nice reflection on the pond

And here is another shot from a similar angle zoomed in a little to show more of the bridge detail
This is not the first bridge in this spot in 18774 a wooden bridge was built there but it did not fare well, and was replaced with this bridge in 1896, which in any season stands out for its tranquil beauty by the pond.

Now lets see the bridge from some other angles, Such as as you approach it on one of the walk ways

Perhaps it doesn't look so cool from the pathway as you cross it so her is another shot of it from another angle, I think you can imagine how the whole feel of the bridge changes from season to season when the colors of the vegetation around it changes

And finishing off with another shot of it from yet another angle

If you ever visit NYC and Central Park, and I do suggest that you do it is an amazing park, but if your time is limited and can only do a brief visit then I a walk around the pond and over and around Gapstow Bridge I would say is the place to go

Thanks Appreciate the resteem
A very pretty spot. I like that you can see the high rises in the background.
Thanks in some sections of the park you can nit see the high rises but nit in this spot there visible at every angle but it is still so beautiful
I also start to love this park, and the bridge and thw pond from your posts. The first shot is really awesome!
Thanks kindly I am actually thinking of doing a large print of that first shot for myself
Oh, how interesting. How large? And where would you use it?
I would have to take down one of the prints I already have up maybe somewhere around 4 ft wide
I think that would look very cool!
I think so will discuss with my Wife tonight ifI remember
What a beautiful place and stunning photography.
Thanks I do love this spot and was very happy with the photos I got on that visit :)
That first shot is exquisite! That makes me realize that though I have been to NYC a few times, I don't recall every walking through Central Park! I might have to rectify that next time I make it for a visit. :)
Thanks I think that first shot is my favorite one i have taken this year I am thinking of printing it our big on Canvas for at home :)
It realll is worth a visit but the Park is huge and you could easily spend a whole day there

I think in the two or three times that I have been to Central Park I have probably only visited about 30% of it. Like you said, it is just huge. If someone tried to walk through the whole thing they would see so many different activities going on in the Summer. It is a really cool thing to see.
Once whenI first got here, I spend a whole day from/7AM till about 8PM walking around the park, and I didn’t even see all/of it that day
Where are the visitors? I saw in the movies there are usually a lot of people.
An hour later it would have been a lot busier at 7AM Ys pretty quiet there and thats how i like it at midday this area is packed with people on a nice day
The tranquility in these images is not what comes to my mind when I hear "Central Park." Beautiful and peaceful. !tipuvote
Thanks so much for the generous tip vote
Trust me it’s only this quiet in the early morning these were taken around 7AM an hour later it would have been busier and by lunchtime crowded
