Grand Central terminal

Grand Central Terminal

I pass through Grand Central terminal every work day and I thought I would share a few shots in and around the station in this post, since I have been doing a lot of macro shots recently so time for something bigger.

Starting with one of the entrance ways into the Terminal, this arched entrance looks quite impressive in the early morning or at night with all the lights giving a cool glow to the entrance.

And since it does include doors I will also add the Distinctive Doors tag to this post, the distinctivedoors tag was started by Myself, I find myself always checking out doors as I walk around and will use the tag when I find any doors that are classy, colorful, run-down or just interesting for any reason, if you do come across any doors that do catch your eye and share them and use the tag so I will see them.

And here is another one of the Entranceways into the Terminal further down 42nd Street Under the Pershing Square arch, you can tell how busy it must get with people heading in and out of Grand Central with how many doors they have here

If you enter in the doors in the last shot you will walk past the Greta Northern food hall as shown in the nest shot, you can also see some of the large chandieliers in this area.

Further into the Station you will see corridors crossing through the terminal, you can see that even when I pass through a little before 7 Am, there are quite a few people in there, at peak times these corridors and full with so many people heading to or from their trains

And finishing off with a Shot in the main Concourse of the terminal, you can see the ticket counters with people cued up to buy tickets, which you can also buy from vending machines in a few areas of the station,
You can also see the train information display with the time the Harlem and Hudson Line train departures,

Grand Central terminal is hugse and these shots just show a very small part of it, when I first arrived in NYC I got lost finding my way through the many corridors in the station a couple of times, not I pretty much know it like the back of my hand

I can say again! I've been there, lol. Awesome shots! I love those chandeliers, besides other things. And I agree, it's easy to get lost there, although I did not, but only because I wasn't alone, lol.

My Wife got lost there the first two times she went through it on her own LOL

Thanks Kindly and arent those chandeliers amazing

Oh my gosh, poor her! I would get lost for sure if I am alone, lol. And yes they are spectacular!

Ohh yeah She came into the city to meet me for lunch, i gave her directions for getting out of grand central but clearly not well I had to walk around the building and then check out other exits till i eventually found her LOL

I thinkII remember reading somewhere that each of the chandeliers weights around 2500 lbs

Thank God for mobiles, otherwise she would have to as the security to help her. How did we live without these phones before? LOL. And I am not surprised those chandeliers weight that much. Amazing!

Ohh yeah she called me and I asked her for street signs and she couldn’t see any so I said stay where you are I will find you which I did it it took a while, without a cell phone who knows where she would have ended up, LOL

Oh my gosh, it's a scary thought! Luckily you found her, lol.

she was fine her son was with her, and apart from coming out the opposite way than I had told them too they were fine it was one of their first trips into the city so they were loving the vibe ;)

Amazing architecture! It looks really grand!

Thanks it is an amazing terminal and cool to take shots of ;)

I love the warm colour tone of it...

it does have a warm welcome tone to it ;)

Yes it does!

I was in Grand Central for the first time just this last January. I was absolutely floored by how large it is and how it never seems to end. A great experience, for sure! Thanks for the photos!

Some of those entrances look very much like theater entrances. Great shots!

Wow. I have never been there. It is pretty cool. It is bigger than I thought. Love the doors with the orange.

Wooooooow! 😍 This is sooooo pretty! I love the color of the lights. You have a huge terminal.

thanks and yes it is indeed huge one can easily get lost in there the first time visiting there

Haha! I can just imagine. 😊😁

I know it so well now passing through it most work days, but I have had friends and family get lost in there LOL

Hahaha! 😁 Well, I will not be surprised if someone would be lost in there.

I am sure it happens to many people

Yes, I reckon. 😁😂

Beautiful station - beautifully presented by you!

thats the name sure fits it, it is without doubt very grand

It’s amazing how grand all the old railway stations are worldwide.

Isn’t it just they sure had style when building the old train stations
