Mono in the Mall

Mono in the Mall

This is a post for Monochrome Monday Hosted by @old-guy-photos, and I will share some shots from in Central Park most taken at the End of a strip called the Mall near Bethesda Terrace,

Starting with this shot of a row of benches, I am sure during the heat of the day in summer these benches get good use, but in the early morning when I visited there I do not think I saw anyone sitting on any of the benches in the park.

And another shot of the same benches from a different angle showing that these benches are not jus one row but they extend right around an area of trees providing some nice shade

And to not be obsessed with benches ( although I maybe I do take a lot of photos of benches around the city even though I seldom ever stop and sit on them) let me share the details at the end of one of the walls leading down to Bethesda Terrace

And showing the detail of that cornerstone, I often hear birds in Central Park, sometimes see them but seldom get photos of them, so here is a shot of an Owl in Central Park

And to finish off here is another of the features on another cornerstone, I am not sure what type of bird this is meant to be

Thanks Kindly appreciated

Nice! I take a lot of pictures of empty benches, too. I like the feeling of solitude and peace they give.

I like how you've done these in monochrome, particularly that very first image. It really enhances the contour and shapes.

Thanks Its funny when I am out and about I seldom sit but I do like getting shots of benches or maybe i just get shots of everything LOL
Thanks i think Mono did work well with these, I have a few also done in color that I may share sometime

Nice entry. I like repetition at the first shot, but I'd prefer sepia (or cream?) tone.

Have a nice start of the week!

Thanks for your feedback and yes I think you are right that would have worked well in Sepia

hello I would be happy to sit on those benches
Happy week

Thanks for the visit and yes with the shade ona hot day those benches would be inviting one to sit for a bit :)

It almost looks like a bat to me. That is interesting that they chose to put two nocturnal species on the carving like that. Nice shots. I don't recall if I ever made it to this part of the park.

Maybe it is a Bat you could be right, did you ever go to Bethesda Terrace, I think you would remember that it stars that go down to a sort of tunnel heading out to a fountain, and they have beautiful colorful tiles or mosaics underneath
I do have photos of it but done have access tot hem here at work

That doesn't sound familiar, so I don't think we did that when I was there. Sounds pretty awesome though.

IT is worth checking out during the day there are often entertainers there as well

I am not sure what type of bird this is meant to be

Ha ha! I believe that is supposed to be an owl and a bat ;-) Perhaps an image is missing?

Well Maybe its a Bowl or an Oat they mythical half owl half bat LOL

Good Morning Morning..!
@tattoodjay
Truly all fantastic photos...!!
On the awesome cornerstone I'm thinking the bird is an owl.. 🙂
