Monochrome Monday Trying some different things in Mono

Monochrome Monday Trying some different things in Mono

This is a post for Monochrome Monday hosted by @old-guy-photos A challenge I try to join as often as I can, the other challenges he hosts are Sepia Saturday and Tree Tuesday, all fun challenges and worth checking out.

For this weeks post, I decided to adhere more to the Monochrome part of the challenge and not slip in a color shot, but I decided to try a few images that I normally would not do a mono edit for

Starting with this first shot of a Bee on a blossom, a similar shot I had done in color in a previous post, but I decided to see how it would look in Mono and I think it works well

This next shot is of a colleague sitting int he gardens near work on a nice sunny day, I was trying to get a sneaky shot of him without him realizing but as you can see he looked up and proceeded to take a photo with his phone of me

Now back to nature for this next shot, not the greatest of shots of the drops on the flowers, but I decided to go with it in this post anyway as ther eis somehting about it I like.

Those first three shots are all things I would generally not have edited in mono, but for the last couple of shots I am slipping back into my norm for what I consider for Moono edits.

Starting with this feature on one of the fences around Central Park

And finishing off with a shot that I have edited a couple of shots along this same sidewalk in color for future posts, but I decided to see how this one would work in Mono, this is again beside Central Park, walking along 5th Ave, in a strip called the Museum Mile, not so sure why I mentioned this since you cannot see any of the Museums in this shot.

Ooohhhhh, I love that last one with the trees....
Absolutely beautiful trees... the way they merge together

Thanks its really funny the last one I was not so sure about so I almost never shared it, but it seems ot be the most popular of the images in this post, I need to go and look at it again :)

Hahaha - I have pleasant surprises like that too! Some I would bet to be popular but hardly raises any eyebrows... sighhh.... Lol! Hits and misses....

I am glad it’s not just me but it is great to get feedback and I look at the popular photos and try to see why people like them and it’s a good learning tool

I can never tell... lol - that's my conclusion! People seem to like to surprise me, good or bad! :D

Glad it’s nit just me that happens to

WOW...That Bee just looks awesome in mono so does 5th Ave really superb shots :)

Thanks The bee shot is my favorite of these but the 5th Avenue one which I wasn’t so sure about sharing seems to be the most popular of these

Well to be honest if i had to choose to frame one it would be 5th Ave :)

I find that interesting is popular that shot is
I clearly have tastes different from most people or more likely when I was editing it I just didn’t get what I wanted from it and have a mental block with it

It's just very sharp , crisp with great detail :)

I am now at a loss at why I did not like it, Maybe I was tired when I edited it and did the post or just inn a grumpy mood

What ever happen the majority say it's cool photo :)

Yes Indeed i had a good look at it last night and now I am starting to see it in better frame of mind :)

I disagree the flower drop shot is fantastic. Spectacular really, Bravo:)

Thanks so much so kind of your to say :)

I love your monochromes, they always turn out so well! I will admit right up front that the last shot is my favorite, probably because of the textures on the brick and trees and the suspended branches, intertwined... plus, it is the Museum Mile. What's not to like.

I also love the gate. There are so much detail and interest in it and your colleague is just funny. LOL Glad to see you all have a sense of humor. Ha! He got you too! I wonder where he will be posting that?

Well, it has started off as a great week! Hope that it continues in the trend!

What really funny is the last shot seems to e the one people like the most, and yet I wasn’t so sure about it hence why I put it last, shows how little I know

Museum Mile is an amazing strip, I haven’t taken photos of the museums for years so maybe thats an idea for another photowalk

I ust show my colleague that photo I haven’t yet lOL

Loving the sun today and tomorrow morning is looking to be the same then it goes downhill

Have a great day

You too! And stop taking the weather's name in vain! ;)

Oops so sorry it won’t not happen again

And yes the double negative was intentional 😂

I like last shot the most too. 😊 Something almost mystical in that shot. But all of them are cool. 📷

Thanks for your thoughts funnily enough the last shot seems the most popular and one I almost did not share

The last photo is my favorite hands down. The picture of your co-worker is pretty funny though!

Thats interesting a few have said the same about the last photo, I wasn’t so sure what I thought of it and hence why I posted it last

Some cool photos, especially like the last one.
@tattoodjay in your neck of the woods this past weekend.
We went to our first Yankee game at the new stadium on Saturday.

Took this picture after the game from the roof of the parking garage.
When I took it I thought it may of been the Freedom Tower.
I also new that when I got back home I would be able to verify this by asking a New Yorker. Am I correct in assuming that this is the Freedom Tower?
IMG_3233.JPG

Thanks

I haven’t been out to the new Stadium yet so I don’t now the view from there but the building in the centre is called by many the pencil building 432 Park Ave, I saw it this morning from Central Park

Over tot he left is the Chrysler building and I am not sure but I think the one not e right above the fence looks like the top of the Empire State building to me

There's something so tranquil in these shots. I've really enjoyed seeing the pictures and reading your description that goes along with them. The last one of the trees is my personal fave. Thanks for helping to keep the Steem blockchain a pleasant place to hangout! Have a wonderful day!!

I am glad you enjoyed my post , I try and keep my posts light and fun because thats who I am for the most part

Have a great day :)
