As I mentioned in the previous post the art In this station is by Vik Muniz's from Munich and the series of three dozen life-like portraits are called “Perfect Strangers”

Whereas this one from a distance looked so realistic it did fool me initially, I honestly thought he was a real worker partially perhaps as when I saw this a real person was walking by wearing a hard hat so I thought they were together

I loved the colorful and realistic look of all his mosaics in this station as I said earlier from a distance many of them could easily be seen as real people when you initially see them, from a distance it’s hard to tell which are real and which are the art till the real people move.

With the exception of the shot above I waited patiently to get shots without any people in the shot other than the Mosaics but with this one I got a shot of this lady checking her phone which gives a sense of scale

and this finishes my series on the 72nd Street Station Mosaics, next up in this series will be the 86th Street Station

A time with no people in the subway is difficult in Seoul as difficult as it must be in New York. City art has a message of its own. "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls."

Ohh yes it is challenging to get shots without people

Life like art made to last.

😎👍😎

That is really cool!!!! why did you choose to take the last photo with the person in it?

Thanks
I took k that last one for two reasons
1 a sense of scale
2 she was so busy On her phone I waited a few minutes and decided to stick with this shot

These are very good! Full of details! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for your visit and support it is truly appreciated

Wow, that is so cool! Thank you for sharing them with us!

And thanks for your support

That's some incredible mosaic work!

Isn’t it all the 2nd Ave stations are so cool

Those are amazing! The Cincinnati Airport has a collection of mosaics that are impressive, but totally different style.

That sounds interesting
Each of the stations on this line has a different style

They are of interest to us because they originally hung in a company my wife's grandfather owned, the William S Merrell Company. The murals were spared when the facility was destroyed.

That is so interesting would love to see them

Lovely shots. I actually really like the last one. The girl on the left looks like "No, you don't." But the lady thinks, "yes I will stand in front of you."

Love you’re take on it

Thanks

Dude the Tigger costumed guy one is ... for lack of a better word, 'adorable'.

Y'know I haven't actually been on the 2nd ave subway yet but these mosaics almost make it worth trekking to -sigh- the upper east side

Thanks it’s well worth a visit
