A Bing Cherry Tree?

in #palnet5 years ago

Occasionally you can catch me seed saving. I've been known to save an avocado pit and put it in water with four toothpicks and wait for roots. Eventually a tree will grow. I even planted one or two. They can't be planted outside here. An avocado tree can't survive in four seasons states like Pennsylvania.

I have a huge fondness for being cherries. I fed my fiance, Jeff, several cherries that remained from my work snack and he sat this seed down on the armrest in the truck and a inquired into his intentions with the pit. He smiled and said, "Maybe we'll plant it."

This area can produce cherries. I know because where I lived for 20 years nearby my exhusband and I had cherry and apple trees. We could make apple pies and once sent apples to make delicious cider.

We never got many cherries, though. You need to place a net over the tree because birds will consume the fruit before the cherries are even ripe. We never seemed to have money for the nets.

Maybe we will plant this cherry tree if it grows and we will have delicious bing cherries on my new property.

I have a tradition as I have had to move for work every year or two and I still buy a house, wherever I go.

I plant a peach tree and I use the pit from the last tree we planted... It has become a tradition and planting a cherry tree will be yours. I love traditions like that. Every year, you can take a pit from the newest tree and plant another.

I am so happy for you!

That is a wonderful tradition! I would not like moving every two years! @dswigle. Thank you for the tip. =)
