Day 243: 5 Minute Freewrite initiated by @mariannewest. Tuesday-Prompt: phone

A couple of nights ago, I received a phone call from my neighbor. She said, "There is a bird's nest in my forsythia bush if you want to take a picture of it." The next morning, I slowly walked up to it hoping to see baby birds. The nest was a little bit higher than eye level and it was empty...darn! I stood on my toes and tried to look inside, but the nest was deep and I couldn't see all the way down. I certainly didn't see any eggs. I took a couple of photos of the nest but they were too dark and not worth keeping.

Later that day, when the sun was shining on the bush, I went back to get new photos. When I was ready to take a picture, I was shocked to see a big eye looking at me through the camera lens. The momma bird was sitting in the nest! I took two quick photos before she suddenly flew away.

With her gone, I looked closer into the nest and saw one blue robin egg. Yay! There would be a baby bird soon.

The following morning, I heard a lot of bird commotion going on near the bush where the nest is. Several birds were squawking and flying around the bush. I walked over and saw the egg on the ground, cracked open. What a sad sight. I thought that a crow or black bird got it since I saw them there.

To top it off, when I told my neighbor, she said that it was probably my fault. "What? How could that be?" I asked. She told me that I disturbed the mamma bird by taking pictures, and when they get upset they kick their eggs out of the nest. I don't know if that is true or not, but you won't see me taking pictures of a bird's nest ever again.

Well, I did not know that theory or hypothesis exposed by your neighbor ... but if it's true it's very sad; but, it is the way animals behave in many of their life situations.
Greetings @whatisnew

It is sad for some of nature's animals. I was out for a walk the other day and saw a small bunny. It was so cute and I took some photos. When I got home and looked at the photos, I was so sad at what I saw. That poor bunny was covered in ticks, swollen from the bunny's blood.

Oh no, that's terrible, though I did once see 2 crows upending a pigeon's nest outside my window sending the eggs crashing to the ground.

What a sight that must have been. Those crows drive me crazy...the sound mean.
