Sunshine was nick-named "Sunny" and her personality lived up to her name. She always greeted you with a warm smile and cheerful words. Her fair skin was not so warm and inviting; she called it "death pasty white." Wearing a hat and long sleeves on a warm sunny day was a must since she was a toddler, and it became second nature to her.

Sunny and her 3 friends drove 4 hours just to go to the beach for the day, but she only wore a bathing suit this time. She was desperate to get a tan, so much so that she didn't use any tanning lotion. Only baby oil for her, as if to say, "Come and get me sun...burn me alive!" And it did just that. She certainly couldn't be in a Coppertone ad, but she would be perfect for a lobster ad. She also had sun poisoning to go along with her sunburn.

In her bathing suit she laid motionless on her bed, refusing to remove it because she couldn't bear the pain. Her salty tears burned her face even more. And her hot and cold chills could only be helped with a white cotton sheet. This was Sunny's life for 8 days. You would think that this incident would have taught her a lesson, but no. This was the beginning of her obsession with obtaining a warm, glowing tan.
