Spring Flowers-Creeping Phlox-Part 9

Driving down the road, I saw this amazing carpet of Creeping Phlox flowers and of course, I pulled over to take photos.

I had to park 3 blocks away and cross of very busy and dangerous 2-way street with 4 lanes and no medium strip, and was happy to make it alive. Oh, the things we do to get photos for our blogs.

Creeping Phlox is native to the Eastern United States and blooms in the spring. They are 6 inches high and can spread to 2 feet wide. Phlox grows at a rapid rate.

They make an excellent ground cover. These were planted on a small hill, probably for their beauty and now, there is no grass to cut on that hill. Phlox comes in pink, white, lavender-purple, and blueish-purple.

Their small 5-pointed flowers have a very strong perfume scent. I was only there for about 30 minutes and I couldn't take it any longer. There were so many flowers which was another reason why their scent was so strong.

I have never seen a carpet of phlox like this one and I sure did enjoy them.

More spring flowers to come, so stay tuned.

WOW! A lot of lovely flowers covering the area.... They have really sweet colors. I would love to walk and see them closely like you did....

Thanks so much for providing us the interesting information of these flowers. ;)

Thanks for your kind words sis! I wish you could have seen them in person too.
Another reason why I don't like winter is because there is no color...nothing growing...very dark and gloomy.

On the east coast. I can't tell you exactly where because of a creep (think of a stalk of celery.)
